FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

I am sure they could fit it into the story about how they were created and discarded and secretly made a city of out of scrap and some magitek robots do not like anyone and some are split on that subject.

They could always make something somewhat similar to a Viera when they add the mixed races. I would imagine that a Miqo'te mixed with an Elezen might produce something similar, right?

That is problematic because of a Catch-22.

People want fierce races, but many will not play females unless they are cute.
A race with cute females is not a fierce race.

This is how we ended up with the Au'Ra fierce male/cute female sexual dimorphism.

Why do females have to be cute? If all females of all new races are exclusively cute, then... people are going to get very bored/annoyed with this VERY fast.

The problem with a robotic race, as interesting as it is, is that it won't make sense when you factor in the Echo. When someone dies with the Echo, they take over the closest living things body. For a robot to do this... they would either become {one of six races} OR go through the painful process of turning flesh and bone into what makes them robotic.

Pretty sure people would be fine with a Robot Race. I see plenty of support when it comes to Cast types in PSO.

Yeah, I really wonder why they ended up doing it, it seems like the idea was scrapped fairly early.. I wanna bet they did it to rile up the ff12 crowd, but I dunno.

I really can only hope his comments mean that when (if) they do more character customization stuff it results in more "Beast like" versions of the Au Ra and Miqo'te (While remaining the same race).

You know, I've talked to a few people about a rabbit race and they all seem very adamant against a floppy ear rabbit instead of the stiff ear ones. Like either that's going to look so dumb with ear sleeves or seem very uncomfortable with their stiff ears tucked away (And also probably make them look exactly like Elezen).

I dunno, it's a Japanese game, but I wouldn't be surprised if most of the game's population is at least in the NA/EU crowd.. And even at that, outside of the overall more cutesy appearances, only the Miqo'te seem kinda Japanese in bases with regards to playable fantasy races. And like, even then a lot of things in this game are based on so many different cultures and mythologies, I hope the designs of the future playable races reflect that.

Eeh, I'd prefer the height ranged be the same for men and women of any new race (And really like.. All races please ; ; ), maybe with the girl's being set normally to like 75 while the guy's are set normally to 25 or something.

I've got issues with the dumb height differences in general and would prefer if the dudes looked more cutesy besides just height or something.

I keep saying that the Roegadyn do the whole "Gross difference body masses between the male and females" better than the Au Ra and they can have bigger breasts, people just don't like them because they're not "Girl Draenei compared to Boy Draenei" levels of it.

I really want the option to make the current cutesy races tough looking, if we ask for a fierce race, it's going to get soooo bogged down from "I want my cute waifus and nothing else!!" crowd.

I dunno, people ask for a lot of things, it's more of less the option to do so for me. I got really disappointed with the Au Ra due to how hard it is to make a girl that visually looks tough, so honestly a tough race that you could make "cute" (In the same way you could make a girl Au Ra look "Tough" ) just seems far at this point.
BUT, I hope (And kinda prefer) the current plans are "Let's expand options to allow for more cute looking Roegadyn and Highlanders and tough/beast like looking Au Ra and Miqo'te"
Imho Au Ra dudes are pretty different than Elezen, the girl's are way too close to Miqo'te though. The issue beyond that is a bunny race will always be "Bunny ears and MAYBE bunny tail" which would look odd with the bunny suit set and probably wouldn't look any different at all than an Elezen when in armor (Both being thin folks).

Hell, the worst part is how you much easier it is to make a cute version of the Highlander (Which have a younger looking face for it) and Roegadyn (Which aren't to hard to get to a pugly sorta cute or just like straight up dazzling). Now.. Making a tough looking girl Miqo'te, Midlander, Elezen, Au Ra, or Lalafell (Though, the guys for this race can't look much tough either so I don't care here)? Very much so difficult, even more so whenever you take into mind the guys of their race.

We don't have to have many people playing the race. Just enough to make the game world actually feel diverse sometimes. A diverse game world will attract players more, which means more money for SE, regardless of whether or not they choose to play a fierce race themselves.

I find the homogeneity of the game's races to be an unattractive quality. I'm not sure if I'd play a fierce race myself (they're usually hit or miss for me depending on design), but I'd still love to see them in game, even if only occasionally. I like diversity, it spices the game up. I'm sure others feel the same, even if they wouldn't play fierce races themselves.

I don't really know if we need 10 different humanoid races with only different ears and tails.
We will never get some beastman race, but then they should maybe focus on something else - maybe more customization for existing races. More horns, tails, hairstyles, tattoos, trying to lower the amount of clipping etc.

If designed well, it can still be popular.

There are plenty of WoW players playing female undead and female tauren. They're not "cute" but they are very well animated and have a lot of personality. But... the vast majority of players get hungup over this and only play 'cute' choices.

this is a japanese game ... it attracts a lot of people that want to play the cat girls and other cute females.

Also, the Elezen ... they're lanky, tall, muscular, and stoic looking. They still have the haughtiness and arrogance you'd expect but they are much more civilized, the elezen seem more European with their behavior and culture than a more "traditional" high elven sort of society.

In other words... they're like traditional fantasy elves. Since the fantasy elf is an invention of Tolkien after all.
...Before him, elves were mischievous workshop fairies (probably the pre-industrial gremlin - you blamed mishaps on elf spirits) and santa's unpaid forced labor pool...

And the catgirl thing... well, Catwoman has been around a LOT longer than anime, and she's based on a very old western 'fetish'...

And yeah I know I'm one of the 'people who plays a catgirl'. I'm not negative on the concept. I'm just noting that its such an overwhelming thing that it way overtakes the 'elf-fetish' that dominates so many other games.
