The tank, more than anyone, is the one that should know if s/he can take more or not, considering what CDs s/he has ready at the moment, the amount of healing that s/he has been receiving, and also how comfortable s/he is (both with the party and with the role). Not the random healer, and specially not the random dps. And if you don't like it roll a tank and do it however you like, or go with your friends, but don't try to add another burden to a role that's already the least played.
Or the healer knows that he could heal through it even if you use absolutely no cooldowns. Communication should always be the first thing to happen if you don't like how your tank's pulling, but I'm also kinda tired of the whole tanks-are-automatically-the-leader-and-whatever-they-say-is-law mentality. It's a big part of why we have so many entitled tanks. Just because they're the least played doesn't make them more important and/or delicate.
