I main DPS and I totally support this. Saying "you try being DPS" when you have shit DPS is like a healer saying "you try being healer" when he lets a decent tank die to everything.

As for the reason for super bad DPS...

I make my own rotations based on... IDK, logic? The action/skill descriptions are pretty spot on, I don't know why it's so hard for every other DPS to make their own rotations that they need a step-by-step guide for their job actions. Even without a DPS meter you can check in the battle log for the various effects of skills that support each other. There's also the thing about joining specific parties: if you don't know the duty from start to finish, don't join a clear attempt party. How is this so difficult to understand? Join a PRACTICE party instead. What, did you want a carry? Did you think "oh gosh I've never seen the last phase but I'm sure I can just hop through it!"

Even if they had a built in DPS meter, and even if you "required" 700 DPS to join your PF... that still wouldn't stop Bads from joining your party. People will lie, just like they lie about having cleared content, and then that "This is the first time for one of the members..." pops up.

I have a dragoon I use when I don't feel like tanking, the amount of times I've seen myself surpass other dps in enmity in boss dungeons, trials, ex primals by multiples is baffling sometimes and I'm 100% confident I'm not pushing my dragoon's maximum limit. Not even quelling strikes can explain that kind of gap.

basically making the community even moreso elitist than it currently is. I dont understand how making a toxic community even more toxic somehow makes it better. it just makes people want to quit the game if anything.

The DPS uncertainty has already messed with my head to the point that I haven't done Bizzy and likely never will. I don't FEEL like I do poor numbers, I usually get commendations in my runs but feeling isn't the same as knowing is it? If I can't be sure I'll contribute I won't go...unless it's a universal learning experience. I may not have offered much to Alex the first time I did those floors but I did them the first day they were out and everyone was learning.

I was far too late to the ball on Bizzy. Learning parties wouldn't even find me desirable since most require knowledge of a few phases at least.

Anyway my point is...I really would like a personal parser. Then at least I can say "Under situations where I know what's going on my general damage per second is THIS".

What are you talking about? I can't believe you actually believe what you're saying.

Bads are bads because they don't care. People who actually want to succeed do so with or without a parser. Bads wouldn't suddenly want to try to improve their play just because it was empirically shown they are being bad. They'd just get indignant and claim that there are extenuating circumstances, just like they do now. It's really not hard to tell who isn't pulling their weight.

And no, there are far too many people on servers for Bads to earn a significant negative reputation. The best you could hope for is your FC all knowing to avoid so-and-so. And it's completely ineffective for DF. Not to mention, Bads could just change their name in the off chance they did become infamous.

No, the OP is ranting for nothing. A built-in parser wouldn't solve any of the problems presented by the OP. Mind you, I'm not necessarily against an in-game parser... I've used them in the past. But a parser won't do what people think it would do.

I wouldn't mind an official parser and I wouldn't mind if people made parties with "ridiculous" requirements. Because you know what? The party finder is open for EVERYONE. -I- can make my own party with requirements that I think are reasonable for the duty based on the item level required and how long the duty has been out. -I- won't rely on some other person taking responsibility to be the party leader.

Some people conveniently forget that they can make their own not-ridiculous party finder groups.

lol, I've played games with parsers before, and it was far less toxic as far as the abuse you would see in runs. Now you just see people randomly attacking others or all others. You would see people abuse it once in awhile, but nowhere to the degree you imagine, and a lot of the time, they got called out on abusing it. Do you think always failing content doesn't make people quit as well? The failure rate in stuff like BEX is way out there, and mostly because dps checks aren't met, by people who are more than geared enough to easily make those checks. Dps, especially those not on PC, have no way to know just how good or bad they are playing, and this does in fact make the player base suffer through constant wipes in content that requires dps checks.
