Anyone else getting seriously aggrivated by the alexander normal loot system?

New system is better than the older I think, but (imo) we could be better yet. Although a lot of suggested ideas beyond what we have now will probably add bloat or get another type of complaints, so maybe an imo past what we have now.

My preference would be a token every run, and I honestly wouldn't mind it to be a token on every run of every major content - I don't like relying solely on RNG, I really really don't. If they get to that point they might as well make a token tab lol, can see your collection of tokens - perhaps let you do something with the old ones or just occasionally update loot lists for old contents (primal armor or theme related materials for example, or maybe more controversial a token transfer to another content given an exchange ratio).

2.) Farm the shit out of the floors with a full, competent party
3.) ????
4.) Profits.

Although even after doing this, I somehow end up helping others get their gear during the week ;__;

Honestly, running T11 and T12 a million times to get my bracelet and pants was MUCH worse.

I got all my pieces every week and I'm not even trying. I guess having an FC with people that run this kind of content helps, but I even used DF for some of them. It's specially good when everyone needs the lens and you're there for the bolts, for example.

If you're PFing, it made the farm much faster in my opinion.

Harhar, agreed. It took me about 150 farm runs + all the runs of T10 we did prior to lockout to ever SEE the Bard Belt. RNG felt so rigged at that point. I never want to experience that again. ^^'

Although NM Alex is more of a comparison for CT raids loot-wise, it's still a way better system than either the Coils or the CT raids had. I'm not saying it's the perfect system, nowhere near it, but it's an improvement unless you go pugging it like an idiot every time. Just join PFs or farm it with a familiar group of people you know, FC, friends, static? Glad that Alex Savage has a quaranteed token drop tho.

I am somewhat aggravated by the current system. In some ways it's an improvement and in some ways it's a step back imo. It really comes down to what you are comparing it to. Alexander nm is neither Bcob nor CT. Since Alexander nm is mostly aimed towards casual players, I am more inclined to compare it to CT. I feel there's a bit too much RNG in its current form. I started out week 1 with a plan for which drops I wanted from each floor. That quickly turned into "just gimme any drop! I don't wanna do this anymore." Now that we've gotten several pieces the "take any drop" strat is far less viable. We pray to RNG that the right token drops, then we pray again for a high roll. The token system is a double edged sword. Everytime you clear there will be a drop that you could potentially use, but this means the other 7 people have an equal shot at it as you. In CT, you had to pray that you would get your class' drop, but atleast you would never have to fight 7 other people for it. At worst, if you were a bard and it was bardfest you might have to roll against 3 others. I don't recall ever capping out on tombstones just from running one of the CT's for my weekly loot. I can't say the same about Alexander. Since you potentially have to roll against 7 other people I think it would be a nice qol improvement if they took out one RNG element by making each floor always drop it's specified token.

I'm also surprised that the quest to complete all 4 floors wasn't made into a weekly quest (maybe next patch?). They could've made it so each week or patch they'd add more options to the quest reward. First week would only have bolts, next week/patch they'd add the pedal, crank and lens, third week/patch they'd add shaft and springs (we all have our chain yea?). This would help aleviate the multi layers of RNG currently in Alexader nm.

As long there is that very broken RNG system, I dont waste my time/effort in dungeons to get gears.

Only a tiny fraction of the playerbase will ever enter Savage, and a lot of them won't even try it yet. At this point if you've been getting an item from all 4 turns every week, you already almost have everything there is to get from Alex normal. Still not really seeing the problem here. If you CHOOSE to only gear 1 job, and you CHOOSE to only roll on certain items in Alex, then you CHOOSE to take a lot longer and CHOOSE to be frustrated with this loot system when the majority of players are quite happy with it. I don't know how many times I'm going to have to say this: get a good free company, and good friends. If you can't find people who are willing to do turns that they don't need, you are playing with the wrong people.

How can you have such a big problem with this?

Even for A4 where a lot of players want the Shaft, I've never been in a group where everyone wants the same loot. There's 2 chests, 3 possible drops...

Just join/make a PF for farming until everyone have loot. Never done more than 7 runs that way, and maybe that's being a little lucky, but unless everyone wants the same drop, it shouldn't really take too many runs.

You have a whole week to get the drops you want, and so far it has taken a fraction of the time it took to get what you wanted from CT...

Best way is to just use PF like that, then run with your FC or something later on in the week to secure those last couple of drops for a couple of players.

I've gotten to point where I only play dragoon and that's it. Especially now that there aren't any cross class skills I don't have the motivation anymore to bother leveling more jobs to 60. So I already have every piece from Alex Normal except for the body and pants. And with those being a 4 week grind only able to get the pants from A3 and body from A4 I'm not even bothering with it. Not doing savage so i can just wait to get body and pants with esoterics in a few weeks. Just too much work involved to hope to get lucky in A3 and A4 for 4 weeks in a row.
