Yeah, the way this is going to work is that crafters will have to procure their i180 set, then they'll have the stats to craft the i170 set. Or you can wait, stockpile millions of gil, and buy the i170 set from the market board right away.

There is no rotation that provides 3 items at 100% chance. There are however 2 rotations that provide 3-4 but both are at RNGs mercy.
The better one of the 2 is: (2x [Discerning + Impulsive] + 1x [Discerning + meth] If any of the impulsives proc, use a single mind on next move instead of discerning) -> grants a possibility of +1 or +2 for 2-4 total.
Why..? 100 weeks for gear that doesn't even compare to ilvl 200 from eso tokens. let alone savage alex 210s..Hell the 190s got these beat for the most part.. or go join party finder for FREE do hunts for FREE and get ilvl180s for FREE.. or use 5-10m in mats for 1 piece that isnt even that good ... GREAT JOB YOSHI U RLY PUT ALOT OF EFFORT INTO THIS....

What I want to know is why do gatherers get significantly less scrips than crafters? I mean sure, there's 3 gatherers vs. 8 crafters but once one crafter is at a good level (specially WVR or LTW) the rest of the stuff becomes incredibly trivial to get if mats are provided. Another issue is, for example, Wyvern Warts and basically, the new materials in general, are going for upwards of 1 million gil on MB. Why bother anymore if crafting is going to be that much costly JUST to progress from 3.0 HQ gear? This was a bad idea because it basically punishes you for getting all crafters up to snuff, much worse for gatherers because they can ONLY get their gear through the scrips and it's only a maximum of 10 scrips a pop (let alone the fact that they're folklore nodes).
God forbid someone got all their classes to 60 and want to be self-sufficient. And let's not mention the demimateria debacle.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
The Favor system sounds a bit confusing to me as I've only read about it so far but it does seem like it's going even less rewarding than I initially thought... I need to do more research. This isn't a great sample size by any means, however I bought 2 favors, the first one after using all 5 charges yielded 14 bladeleaf and 1 swordleaf. The second one I got 1 Wyvern Wart in the 15 minute window before rage quitting gathering. I'd predict at least 2 scrips per synth of 1 base mat, since you need 10 mining and 10 botany items + 1 crafter scrip.
Updating: decided to go back to the Churning Mists and try for wyverns wart again, got another 1 in 15minutes.
edit : it would seem -rounding up widely- that, maybe, very depending on RNG (and sheer will), you would need about the same amount of gatherers' redscrips as crafters' redscrips to get the materials needed. Or more simply :
1 token = 5 favors = 20 items (actually seems more like 17...?)
Since the nodes themselves aren't that hard to get, I guess the "best choice" -if you want to go down that road- would be to use all of your gatherers' redscrips for 23 weeks, on favors...

Worst part:
At this point you put all this time and money in your gatherers/crafters so you can gather/craft more. Im not counting the few furnitures (yay 2 furnitures) you can make then or the i180 crap because its basically worthless. In 3.2 or some time down the road they will nerf the old gear so you can get the new one easier, like they cut down the items made for artisan tools back in 2.4 to 5 needed instead of 50. So i hope for a token downcut to 20% or less of the original price.
But as it is now (I was an omnicrafter in 2.x just so i could make what i wanted to be made) there is actually nothing in the 2 star range that i WANT/NEED to make. I can gather all items needed for anything below 2 star, and i can craft everything up to 1 star without melding 2-3m gil in my gear.
So basically, for me as self sufficient person nothing changed to the 3.0 release except that i will grind my weekly 450 scrip and get tokens so i can get stuff when the amounts are nerfed. Im pretty sure they will find a way then to add MORE red scrip gear down the road and 3- and 4- star recipes that will need the same amount of grind >.>
I feel exactly the same.So basically, for me as self sufficient person nothing changed to the 3.0 release except that i will grind my weekly 450 scrip and get tokens so i can get stuff when the amounts are nerfed. Im pretty sure they will find a way then to add MORE red scrip gear down the road and 3- and 4- star recipes that will need the same amount of grind >.>
I guess (okay, I know) I will need the i170/180 equipement at some point, but by then, I will have amassed a serious amount of redscrip, and they probably will uncap/lower the cost/give us more ways to obtain the materials.
Still... sucks to just stand there, before this gigantic wall, hoarding tokens wishing that some day, I will actually use them.
While my stats are a bit above the norm (719 craft, 696 control, 387cp unbuffed) using HQ seafood stew as a food made most of the crafts fairly trivial assuming you use as many cheap/easy to obtain HQ mats. You still run into the issue of RNG being a thing. Sadly for me RNG was pretty horrible and I ended up get 0 goods in 20+ steps and decided to try reclaiming. Needless to say my reclaim blew up in my face, which essentially put me a week behind, but 10% is 10% so whatever. Looking back on it now, I should of just taken my chances since I had 6 stacks of IQ (Yep bad RNG) and was fully buffed for a finisher at 4500/9430.with full ilvl 150 HQ gear and the lvl 54 HQ food (Beet Soup) you only need cheap melds to craft the new stuff, the question is how hard it will be to HQ with those minimum stats. I wouldnt want to waste my scrip mats for a NQ item thats only as good as my current gear.

RNG can be a bit** ... it shouldn't at least be possible for reclaim to fail at this stage of crafting because exactly this happens... ;(
