Can we get rid of the daily post limit?

I easily answer 10+ threads in a day, each about a different topic, so it's NOT about making a point and arguing.

Quit lying.
You only hit the daily limit once, and it was during a very active time where people were speaking about the early access codes and all that mess. Most of these messages were one to three sentence long only.

Check your message history and you'll see that, on average, you clearly don't answer "10+ threads in a day" in different threads.
Simple maths with your post count and your date of arrival on the forums also shows that.

So, please, don't overdramatize that "issue" you don't even have on a regular basis.

And no, I have not hit the limit once, I have hit it 3 times, last time yesterday. And will likely hit it today soon...

And I have NEVER said I answer 10+ threads on average. I am not here every day... But when I am here, I answer many threads. The thing is, I would love to answer more, but I CAN'T because I will get hit by the post limit.


It doesn't matter that I don't hit this limitation on a regular basis, it's still:
1) Annoying.
2) Useless.
3) Limiting the amount of threads I can participate in.

The threads you wanted to be in so bad will still be here tomorrow, you know? Is it so hard to pick a few points of interest per day to the point where you absolutly need to participate in everything?

Yes you did, and I already told you at least one use for it. If you want, I can find another reason: it decreases dramatically the overall number of posts per day on the forums, making moderation way easier.

Speaking of moderation, I'm pretty sure that the people who went for the daily post limit had some good reasonning behind it and are not as stupid as you think they are.
You should probably ask them. (But you're not the first person to ask for that, and you'll probably won't be the last.)

Keep calling it useless if you want, but I just found at least to uses for it.
As for if they are good uses or not is only a subjective matter. For you, who seem to be liking getting involved in everything and posting some two sentences messages frequently, I'll make the assumption that theses uses cannot justify how annoyed you are (that was an easy assumption , I'll give you that), and you'll probably use another post from your daily limit to prove me how wrong I am.

So do moderators and the fact that you need a paying FFXIV account, with a character leveled up to post in most areas. The reason for the post limit is that:

Yes, only to a small vocal minority, but it does NOT help anyone else. So why hurt some people while not helping others?

Trolls will always be there.
Spammers can easily get banned, and if this limit was for example changed to an hourly one, that would also work against spammers, while not hurting normal people.

I highly doubt that people who hit the post limit make a lot of short answers... Hence why one of my complaints is the 1000 character limit... This is not IRC/Twitter, there should not be a character limit.

Yes, the threads will still exists, but they might be outdated already, hidden 10 pages back, derailed, etc... AND there might be new interesting topics I want to participate in.

Post number decrease is NOT a good thing! Never was, never will be. You NEED an active community for an MMO to survive really long. If the mods can't handle it, get more, easy as that.
Though I have participated in League of Legends General Discussion for years, there were no such limits, there were MORE people, more threads, more posts, and the mods still managed. So yeah...


I highly doubt they had good reasons. What I've heard the reason for the character limit was a heated discussion full of long posts a year or so back, so basically content you WANT on a forum, as long as it's not insulting and stuff.
That doesn't sound like a good reason. That sounds like an incredibly stupid reason.

It is useless. You found one debatable use - limiting spam. The rest is either moot, or just guesswork.
And of COURSE I limit my message length when it's not absolutely needed to make it long, because it's fucking ANNOYING to have to circumvent the 1000 char limit EVERY SINGLE TIME...

Because it's bad to discuss stuff in a forum called "General Discussion"... LOGIC PLS!
Also apparently it's better to have short posts which leads to misinterpretation, lack of info, and general annoyance!

Ban the spammers, remove the limits = everyone is happy.

There is also the issue of some issues getting bunches of threads going. Look at all the treads we recently had on BRD/MCH. Look at all the threads about the lag and disconnects.

It is not uncommon to have intense discussion in multiple threads...the post limit can stifle participation in such cases.
