The fact that Alex normal requires you to either run a floor four times or to have a prayer answered from RNGesus to get a single piece of what is probably just another piece of a complete item, makes the time investment vs. reward clearly biased against Alex. Furthermore why do Rav Ex (which I cleared about 18 times for idk why), when you can get an i200 weapon in eight days? The content is irrelevant to anyone with common sense and time-management savvy.

Won't be 8 days but 3 weeks or let's say 15 days(remember 450/week and the weapon costs 990 eso). i200 is esoterics with an upgrade item to 210. 210 is savage direct and yeah takes 8 clears.

Minimum for Eso weapon is 9 days, since you can start on Monday, max, max next week, and then max after reset...
But it's still WAY longer than Ravana weapon, which you can get in 1 day (even 1 try if you are lucky).

1) You most likely need 190+ iLvl to clear Savage.
2) It takes VERY long time to get Eso equip.
=> You will very likely need mostly Alex Normal gear + Ravana weapon to clear Savage
=> It's not useless by any means.

Sure if you are taking your time, you can just ignore both Alex NM and Ravana, and just focus on slowly grinding Eso, that's luckily a choice we have.

Well in another month the new relics are released, too, which makes the grind spent on esoterics weapons (which is dumb in the first place considering the cap), or Rav Ex weapons even more fruitless. And i180 vs. i190 gear for alts just doesn't seem worth the hassle or time investment--to me--when I can be doing other things, inside or outside the game, and still be ahead of the curve regardless.

I'll be PVPig till cap, for one, since the new FL is kinda fun. Each match gives 20 esoterics, too, which adds up real quick. Ultimately Alex and Rav Ex gear fills a niche that neither super-slow-and-casual or hardcore really care about. It's weird itemization, having so many ilvls to chase within a month of release.

3.1 won't be coming for a few months - I'm guessing late september. Remember it's 3 month cycles give or take. So earliest we could see 3.1 is ~ september 20th. So plenty of time really.

SE really fucked over the PVP players in yet a new way, big surprise there. We had to put a lot of effort into getting where we could equip/glamour the i100/I110 sets and even though they're not relevant to current ilvls and people can easily get equivalent level gear, they unlock them where someone can just afk in a few roulettes and buy them.

The GC restriction made me resent the people who made PVP decisions at SE. This made me outright despise them.

And yes, if you are not someone who wants to clear hard endgame content as soon as possible, then this is technically a useless grind for you. But that's the curse of games with vertical progression and a gear treadmill. That's how the game is, that's how the game was, and that's how the game will be for a long time. It's perfectly normal for this kind of games that gear is outdated a few months after release.
The only reason i170-i190 FEELS outdated (it's not, you need it to get the best ones, unless you are taking it VERY slowly) is because SE staggered the release. If they did the same as with 2.0, we would have been farming Savage and Eso gear for 4 weeks now, with Law and NM only being VERY temporary stepping stones...

So you cap for a week and get nothing, only in the second week of capping you will get a gear piece, it will be really really really slow. Would you like to be in i148-i160 for the time being? Or are you glad that you had shit to farm in those 4 weeks?

It's NOT a dead niche they are filling! YOU NEED THEM to gain the better ones, UNLESS you are slow and only focus on Eso gear.

As someone who doesn't really like the echo and nerfs done to coil, this is actually kinda bad. If the intention of introducion alex nm is to make 8 man 'raid' is to make it accessible, why would they put welfare tome gear upgrade in the savage raid? That's just asking for people to complain about accessibility all over again! I mean, hunt's bad but this is worse.

There being really no content where i200 gear upgrade mat can drop and is 'fitting' doesnt really help either. Alex nm? Doesnt seem right? Ravana ex? Doesnt even match.

SE still considers HM roulette mainly for experience, I guess.
They don't want people spending time in lvl 50 dungeons.

They do that to everyone... relic weapons are given away like candy, FCOB can be beaten in an hour now, ect.... There really are no real achievements in FFXIV except beating the latest set of 4 savage bosses, and even then it wont be long b4 they nerf/echo it
