You must be new here. They have made some bad design decisions along the way to this point. At this point it seems a more viable reason. The finder system has some serious flaws they refuse to acknowledge or discuss and that ha nothing even to do with GC's.

thats true, but the GC system is currently the largest factor in terrible queue times, not the issues with the finder system

Not as new as you might think.

As a programmer (in training, anyway), I know that there's a certain level of stupid decision making that must go into the design in order to back yourself into an unfixable issue as you suggested they may have run into. Nothing SE has done indicates that they're that bad even at their worst. They would have had to try their damnedest to break their grouping system so badly that they can't even change it to ignore GC requirements entirely. A programming or design issue with the queue/grouping system for Frontlines is very, very, extremely unlikely the reason they have not yet removed the GC restrictions.

Frontlines were introduced GC-locked. The explained lore practically requires it be that way. It's far more likely than anything else that the reason they haven't removed their GC restrictions for Frontlines is simply their desire to retain the current lore as it is. SE has always been big on their game lore, so it's definitely something I can see the company doing.

Then what we can do? Let play? don't pay massively? All pvers send a reclamation? SE is moved to money as other companyies, and if i know well FFXIV is a game "designed" by jappanese gamers, we the pvpers are a fraction of their clients but maybe if all being together and do something coordinately SE will be forced to hear us and delete this really stupid GC restriction. Is not our problem if they had wrong dessing, programmers, or whatelse, we play, we pay, and have the right to demand a good pvp mode with massive less timeouts as now

The mercenary would be a great work around. There is deception in each company I'm sure. I think something like that would go along with the way things go in GC's in terms of betrayal but also keep the lore.

It would let those who want to be a mercenary go into the Immortal Flames or Adders but at the same time someone like me who wouldn't dare go to another GC to help them out stay and keep my wait times because I'm a heavy lore based player.

On the other hand if they take away the whole restrictions as long as they let me see when I'm teamed with a Flame or Adder, I can turn to them and attack. I mean once they helped me gather the data they're no use to me..a quick fluid aura off a cliff while bombarding them with stone III into the sea where it will swallow them whole is a fitting way to say "Thanks." because who knows who they might join with next!

Seriously though, I can see how taking away the GC part could help, but I do love the mercenary idea.
