The Future of THM

I'm just curious if we've received any confirmation or at least official "hints" towards SE making a specific "job" for THM in the future.

We know that CON (or CNJ as it will be as of 1.19) is getting the White Mage job title. Now... This information makes some people automatically say "well THM is BLM then", I disagree.

- CNJ has all the elemental spells, and anything "elemental" is tied to CNJ lore, not THM lore
- THM can effectively play the role of buffer/debuffer, and also serves as a backup nuker, and backup healer, that really doesn't sound like a BLM

Can anyone provide some source info from SE that would shed more light on this?

On a side note, in speculation I honestly believe that the "Bard" job title would be more suited to THM than a BLM would be, based on the reasons above.

They said 1 job per class for now so that mean THM=BLM CON=WHM THM is a debuff so you can easy be a black mage you just have to levle up conj lol to get there nukes.

Thats a misconception alltogether, the false assumption that elemental nukes=BLM in FFXIV. At this point BLM just means the DD caster and WHM means the healer caster.

I would like to see an explaination as to how THM has nothing to do with either BLM or WHM ?

Doesn't the term "DD caster" imply that you must do damage, and thus most likely require nukes?

Also I think THM is quite the opposite, it has both BLM and WHM properties, which makes it even harder to discern the path it will take in the future:

- THM heal (Sacrifice)
- THM nuke (Scourge/Banish/Shadowsear)
- THM debuff (Absorbs/Dia/Bio/Poison/Paralyze/Slow/etc)
- THM buff (Absorbs -> Initiation)

Honestly, this sounds much more like a BRD than a BLM or WHM to me.

CNJ very well could (and should imo) get both BLM and WHM, but we have confirmation that for now, classes will get only 1 specialization and CNJ is getting WHM.

Hard for you perhaps, common sense for most.

How you got WHM out of the folloing is beyond me:

- THM heal (Sacrifice) Spill your own blood to grant HP to another
- THM nuke (Scourge/Banish/Shadowsear) Shodowseer....really...this says WHM to you.....SERIOUSLY?
- THM debuff (Absorbs/Dia/Bio/Poison/Paralyze/Slow/etc) Debuffs don't scream WHM to me either.
- THM buff (Absorbs -> Initiation)

Spells aside, do both the class quest......THM talks of nothing but spilling your own blood, and walking the line bewteen life and death, If that says WHM to you, then you will never get it. CON talks of holiness, meditation, being one with nature, and speaking to the elements.

Seems pretty logical which one seems more applicable to which job. To base it on abilities alone, is attepting to judge with 1/4 the fact, and anyone knows thats not a very intelligent way to make a discission.

But since you keep pushing the issue, I have to just come out and ask, at what point does sacrafice say WHM to you, and Cure say BLM. When you keep comparing spells, thats all that needs to be said.

Can we combine this with the treads in which is coglin already having this argument in?

To me coming to a conclusion based on what spells the different classes have doesn't make sense simply because in a lot of ff games both whm and blm had access to heals and nukes.

I think in the end the player base decides what a class really is. Take a summoner in ffxi, a supposed dps, however if you leveled one you know most times you were expected to heal because of your huge mana pool. I played a RDM and i was almost never brought into a party for enfeebling/light dps.

I guess my point is no matter what SE labels the class, if you want cnj to be a blm and you can gear your char to be like that then do it.
