Mostly because a vast amount of this game deosn't follow on par with the classes in the previous FF games. Also, because con have all the heals, revives, buffs. Leveling con all the NPC talk is about lif, healing, and nature. Level a THM and its al about assasination type kills, and you spill your own blood to gain power, you sacrafice your blood to heal others.
Now I can understand you may disagree with me saying it seems more applicable for thm=blm and con=whm. But to say "you dont see how people are getting confussed" might be a solid display that you yourself are confussed. Granted there is no teling which way the devs wil go. I find it difficult to understand how someone can state withsuch certainty that the class that sacrafices there blood to heal another, or sacrafices there blood for power, uses "damnation"(refering to hell) when con us "radiance"(A:to emit light or glow,B:marked by or expressive of love and happines)-from merriam webster.com.
So if you think the class that assinates, spills there blood in a rite to gain power, uses spells of dark magic to debilitate, uses hellish damnation as an attack , studies death to master its class, and uses resurrect(all sound very dark and necromantic to me), will be the healerr of white light or WHM, over the class that uses nature to heal, radiace to attack(sounds alot like holy to me), has all the beneficial buffs, and CURE. Then yes, I can understand how we confuss you.
I'm not confused. I just know I'm going to be right. You'll see~
Seeing that con just got a buff on AM spells, and SE didn't just moved them to thm might be a hint that con's going to be blm, never know they might let both thm and con access Blm and whm to not to piss off ppl. And befor you say they said "one job to one class" remember this the same company that said they not raise the lvl cap in 11 over 75 lol
You do realize THM got a big Shadowseer buff as well as a Scourge/Banish buff right. In my opinion, that fact seems to counter balance what AMs got.Seeing that con just got a buff on AM spells, and SE didn't just moved them to thm might be a hint that con's going to be blm, never know they might let both thm and con access Blm and whm to not to piss off ppl. The numbers I see players posting they hit with AM spells any THM can blow away with Scourge II/Banish II
Correct me if i'm wrong since i'm not really sure but dont Scourge and Banish have a debuff that reduce magic defense for each of their respective sides of the elements(umbral/astral)? or does it only effect astral and umbral spells?. I know for certain they atleast reduce magic defense for thaumaturges own spells i just always thought they had an effect because of elements either being on the umbral or astral side.
I think SE would be making a mistake if Blm was made into a Astral/umbral only nuker because then you may as well just remove the elemental nukes altogether and reducing blm's elemental repertoire to two elements is quite an extreme dumbing down of the job. The only value elemental nukes have are being the best dd for their mp amount where as scourge and banish have debuff value.

Considering they are putting the jobs in to make this more of a Final Fantasy, I fail to see them ever having a Black Mage with out elemental nukes... ever.
Interesting point. I have never seen that one before. Thank you for adding a researched point to the thread.I have no idea which one will be BLM or WHM...so I will just level up both >.>
However I noticed something interesting.
In FFXI there is a mob called Vanguard Thaumaturge : http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Vanguard_Thaumaturge
it's job is a BLM. >.> Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with XIV but I thought it was interesting. In XI SE seems to classify Thaumaturge as a BLM.
Not saying that for sure it will be BLM...I honestly have no idea, just something I noticed.

To build upon this, in FFXI there was also an enemy called Yagudo Prelate, which was Black Mage job. In this game we now have an enemy called U'Ghamoro Prelate. Its class? Thaumaturge.I have no idea which one will be BLM or WHM...so I will just level up both >.>
