You do know that that's basically how the game is now right? NM/Dungeon drops aren't the best gear in most cases.

Crab Bow HQ is better than Verdant bow.
Jade Hora HQ is better than Verdant Hora.
Engraved Bhuj HQ is better than Canopus Bill.
Banneret Lance HQ is better than Canopus Guisarme.

Why is it that people still going after the dungeon drops in light of this? Because it's safe and to a degree guaranteed. The differences aren't that great unless we're talking +3s but either way they're still technically better.

I completely agree with you. However, I do hope for more challenging Dungeons/NMs in the future that would drop better gear that is either on par with maxed materia gear or U/U but still materia upgradeable itself. If I cant have at least this, then I might as well stop playing, because I'll be damned if I buy/craft my way to the best gear.

As i said before, while I'd prefer that NM/Dungeon drops be the best gear, Id be willing to compromise and make it equal between max crafted materia gear and NM/Dungeon gear. But so far from what I cas see, not only will NM/Dungeon gear not be the best gear, but the matria enhanced crafted gear seems like it will greatly outclass it. And its not about risk/reward, I find being able to craft/buy your way to success personally offensive. The very idea pretty much disgusts me.

And maybe the problem lies in a lack of clarification from the devs, and if so I have nothing to worry about, and I'll go my merry way getting my high end gear exclusively through NM/Dungeon drops. But if the materia-enhanced crafted gear is THE best gear period, and there is no way to upgrade NM/Dungeon drops in the same or a similar manner, then I have a big problem with that. Like I said, its my personal view-point, its not like I can change my moral/ethical stance on the issue(looks like cheating to me).

Of course if they fail to fix stats in 1.19, materia will be nothing more than a placebo anyhow.

Well I did say its my opinion, but for clarification: because I don't like it!!!
Can crafted gear be the best gear in a MMO for once? Sure, why not, I am just asking for clarification and if it is as I fear, then I'll wish you all the best, and leave in search of a new MMO. If the devs give me a clear and firm answer that it will be that way, then I have no argument left. I'll not /rage, I'll just move one. If however, there has been a lack of clarification, or the devs have changed their mind on the idea of crafted gear being THE best gear, then I'd like to know that my little lala can keep pace with the Joneses by getting covered in blood.

I think the best would be NM Gear = Craftet HQ Gear with 4 Materia+4
If you have the time and luck, you can try the crafted HQ gear with the 5 best materia or safe some time and nerves and farm some NM.
NQ gear + materia = casual
NM/Dungeon gear = average (NM respawn time is very short and in dungeons you only need to open the chests)
HQ gear + materia = hardcore

I like everything you said except that NM/Dungeon gear = average. Maybe have some that are average and some that are casual. But what I would want is Hardcore NM/Dungeons that are much much harder dungeons with super rare drop rates (below 5%).

You can trade both equipment with materia, or materia alone.

ただしEx属性の装備品の場合には、従来通りトレードすることができません。
But if the equipment is Ex status then just like regular you wont be able to trade.

this makes it look like you can attach materia to r/ex

but i don't think you should be able to sell items with materia in it already.

Honestly if that's what you want, you may want to pack your bags now. This was always advertised and is going in the direction of a more casual MMO than that.

Unfortunately for me, you might be right in that I need to go elsewhere. However, I completely disagree that anything in this game is casual beyond leves.
