What I'd like to know is if the action of attaching materia will require some skill, some kind of minigame.
As far as we know now it seems it will just be luck based (or at least that's the feeling I'm getting) but Yoshi is talking about this system as something really hard and challenging...

Well you can't say a luck based upgrade system is hard, it's not like you're gonna put skills in it, just spend time and money, so I'd rather call it frustrating >.> I really hope they can come up with a system that at least makes me have a part in the attachment that is not just "press the attach button", I mean I want to blame myself for breaking the gear I spent effort creating, just like when I use that last touch up at 20 durability to make the +2 turn into +3 cause I'm greedy, not a random variable...

I like the core Materia concept of crafters customizing/enhancing gear. I don't like the spiritbond mechanic. I don't want to have to shelve my weapon of choice in favor of another weapon I equip only to churn out materia so I can enhance the weapon I'm not actually using. This is very similar to the Trial weapons of FFXI. Equip a junk weapon in order to learn a weaponskill you can then use with your good weapon equipped. I understand wanting a sink for crafted gear and a limiting bottleneck on how much materia can be produced, but please, find another way.

I also don't like the all-or-nothing feature of adding more than one materia to an item. The price of failure is too high. A progressively lower chance of success when trying to add successive materia to an item is good, but failure should just mean loss of the latest materia being added.

How about just buying the materia? Someone else is willing to make it for you. Also if you're so worried about failure, then don't attach more than 1 materia.

"If you don't like it, don't do it," is certainly one response. Or... the system could be changed to something I'd like to participate in.

By the way, the materia market smells like something tailor made for RMT. Yuck.

Why should they change the system for you? There's more people that like the system as it is now. Also if you just bought the materia you would still be participating.

any system that can be used to make gil can be considered favorable to RMT

so thats a very invalid argument to use

If "many more" people like the system, then keep it as is. On the other hand if it's an aspect of the game that you'd rather pawn off on the RMT next door to do for you, then that's bad. I think mindlessly turning gear into materia is bad.

That's your opinion and that's ok, but I don't think it's going to be that bad. Also at this point I don't think I would be bothered by RMT considering that's entire reason why this game turned out the way it did. The previous Devs created this game around the notion of stopping RMT, which limited the players gameplay as well. Anyway, I'm done, I don't want this to turn into an argument.

    rmt will exist
    you cant stop them
so instead of hindering them through gameplay thatl make players mad, seek and destroy them instead(players must help in this regard too, otherwise they lose their rights to complain)
