Yeah, the gender differences can get a little weird, but the two versions at least exists. For that particular set, I actually like the male version better. Dem high boots.
I'ma go punch that.
Tank and DPS

This is the point. If you refuse to give men dresses, that's fine, but at least give men equivalent options that suit men and not women (like south seas talisman instead of a bra or bathing tops.) Give men sexy styles that show off their chests like my rendition of Thavnairian Bustier on my male alt to take after a male bellydancer style.

A lot of things aren't common. I mean, depending on your sort of communities you involve yourself in you'll probably see men in dresses a lot, there's nothing inherently wrong with that. SE doesn't follow the "normal" way, or at least doesn't care for it with regards to men wearing traditionally feminine clothes, they've stated several times the reason that they don't make female sets unisex is it's more difficult to do so apparently. Lore wise we see men in leather harnesses and "robes" all the time, heck Hildebrand even wore one (Albeit as a poor disguise) and he's the son of one of the most influential men in Ul'dah. The lore doesn't really care what men wear.
The same way he takes us seriously whenever you have our WoL pop up in a bikini top and moogle weapons. If this were real life, I can assure you, most people would not go fighting in bikini tops, this however is fantasy.
I suppose it's better than a pure lockout, but that also seems to be functional gear and less so vanity sets, so a lockout really couldn't happen without clear gameplay effects. I could go into my grievances with "sexy armor" for girls, but that's another topic. I do agree the male version looks way better though >.>

YES Terrini. Why is it only viable that we can make female characters 'sexy'? Some of us want to make our male alts in a similar way.

How closed-minded... Male bellydancers are a thing.
Deal with it.

Sadly not all of them are =) only most of the pre-50 robes are. And even there you run across the restriction of "Disciple of Magic", especially with dungeon loot. 50+? They're either class locked, or DoM-locked =/
I totally get locking the AF gear; those are the iconic "this is a [job name]" things, after all. But the rest?
But that's a different topic ^^
Regarding this thread's topic... Yes. I'm also tired of female characters getting more options, and that pretty much every patch that adds new glamour gear adds one more option for women than for men. Sure, the NPC clothing added to Gold Saucer had male and female versions, both being gender locked. That's fair. But then there's the gambler/bunny outfits, where one's unisex and the other is female. Where's our male-only one to equal the bunny suit? (No, I don't buy that Gambler suit is the male equivalent; being based on a character from a previous FF game, it rates a lot higher on the 'must have' scale than random eyecandy.)
If they can't make male/female outfits because someone goes "oh, but this male outfit would look good on female characters", and they can't make unisex/unisex outfits because someone goes "oh but this female outfit would look gross on male characters", then make male/unisex/female. *grumbles* Just make things more even, will you?
