    More gender locked clothing

I'm very disappointed in SE for continuing to release gender-locked clothing that give people who play female characters way more possible options than those who play male characters. After Gold Saucer came out with all the additional options for females but no equivalent male versions, I thought SE said they'd give us more options on the future but clearly it's not important to them. No, I don't want to wear the fishnets from Gold Saucer but if there is the whole Bunny set for female players how come we get nothing? And the Gambler set doesn't count as making things fair because that can be worn by both male and female players.

And now we have the Thavnanairian sets... there are other threads about how expensive they are, so that's not the point of this one. The Thavnairian Bolero/ Turban/ Gloves/ Sarouel can be equipped by male/female characters... but then there's the Thavnairian Headress/ Bustier/ Armlets /Tights / Sandals sets that are female only.

Why should players who choose to play female characters get 2x the options as those who play male characters for so many of the high profile sets designed for purpose of glamour? If you're creating a Thavnairian Bustier set only for females, could you not do an additional set designed in a way appropriate for males or is your imagination that limited?

If you are disappointed that SE continues to go down that path from a glamour gear design standpoint, please say so.

I mean personally I DO want to wear the fishnets on my male character... but anyway
really if that's just too hard it's not like they can't edit items to look different on different genders.

I agree, but even on other fronts of certain gear sets. Biggest example being the Scylla robes. It looks really good with female characters, and looks like an abomination of a robe for men.

But I'm going to take a pretty good guess and say SE's answer will fall along the same lines as Tera's per their female only classes. They're going to cater to the most common to get the most mileage out of the least amount of resources. This being female only sets thrown out more often than any kind of decent male only set.

I wish the Thav bustier was

    1) not gender locked
    2) two pieces

I would wear the bottom part of that to go with the elezen hempen undershirt (black) in a heartbeat on Gale. I don't think that would look too outlandish as a Black Mage set for an elf.

Good point re: the Scylla gear... with that, and a lot of Healing (and to a lesser extent casting), to wear it without glamouring it essentially means going in drag... so they're willing to put me in a granny dress if I equip Scylla's Healing gear... and yet I can't wear a pair of bunny ears because that would somehow be wrong.

(FYI male bunnies do exist, if they didn't we would have run out of female bunnies long long ago)

I was thinking of that when I noticed there was no male alt to the costume in the Gold Saucer, would be great to have that and I am always for unisex options on as many items of clothing as possible.

Meh. If SE decided to add more options for male characters to balance against what's available for female characters, I can't say I'd be opposed to them doing that, exactly. Yet, at the same time, I kind of feel like just saying: the shoe is on the other foot now, so deal with it. Plenty of games have had this exact same kind of imbalance - in many cases far worse of an imbalance - but weighted toward more and better options for males.

Still, in the interest of "more options are always good", like I said above, I wouldn't be against them adding more male options.

But no Fem Skirts and Stuff for Men. What many here forget is that other Players have to endure your look. Sometimes when I see a Female Character dressed like a Slut/Whore i have to surpress that Urge to walk her up and Shout "HEY. How much do you charge per Stunt?!".
It's 2015. If a male avatar in a video game wears a dress it affects you not at all, no matter how much you wish to pretend otherwise.

"Endure" their look. How classy. Your bizarre fear of cross-dressing, vehement insistence that everyone conform to outdated gender norms, and outright misogyny are far far more difficult to endure, believe me.

Titan almighty. Frankly, I truly hope the option for men to wear dresses IS added to the game at some point, just to spite your slut-shaming 18th-century ass.

Yep. There's an interesting double-standard here, too, because I'd bet money that there's a lot of crossover between the "Males shouldn't wear dresses because it's NOT RIGHT" crowd, and the "Sexy female skimpy armor designs are fine/it's just fantasy/you can't squash SE's artistic vision!" crowd. Seriously, among the people that would be up in arms complaining if SE suddenly gave men the ability to wear a bunch of very feminine clothing items such as dresses, demanding that things to be changed back to the way they were, a bunch of those same people would be first in line to defend the "sexy" outfits forced on female characters for certain gear sets (i.e. Dragoon AF tummy window, Ninja AF low-cut "armor" top) if someone were to point out how ridiculous and sexist they are and lobby SE to change them (or, if not defend the gear itself, deride those bothered by it as "oversensitive").

I support this. There is way too much option for female characters. I am not saying to take away those options, but to give the male character that same option. Why do we have to have such limited amount of outfit. Females even get to wear male clothes that is more options to them

This is very much a thing and a related topic has dozens of pages complaining about and promoting this http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...light=Male+art

I even made my own design on page 59

If this keeps up, it might one day be like PSO2 where 50% of the clothing is gender locked to female.
