If implemented I hope is limited to event or other and not like PK style

PvE is like a religion with the FF group, even suggesting it is blasphemous! And god help you if you suggest that SE look at ideas that have worked for other companies like regional servers or pvp and pve only servers... everyone knows there's only one true way (whatever the director decides). I think if players like Zephir had there way, people would have to submit applications and prove there worthiness/dedication in order to play ffxiv

I lol'd at this. He may be a bit extreme but I as a FF player/ fan base...disagree with your reason why, and I'm getting this implied version from you, it's not the idea of it (PvP) being bad it's just some don't like or want it to be THE MAIN part of the game. Imo, there have been some really good ideas posted from both sides so don't let Zephir's thoughts cloud your judgement of the rest of us. They said from the beginning that PvP would not be the main aspect of the game and in no way could I ever see it going that route. SO most of you do not ever have to worry about that but even when they do bring it will always be just an optional thing and the PVE players will never have to touch it if they do not want to. But I would like to see PvP to be a lot more than what it was in FFXI because like I said before I would love to see an arena that allows PvP solo and group combat and also player vs monsters solo and group content. In a sense that would be PVE content built into the arena and would be beneficial to all players for winning battles and collecting points or something of the sort.

I lol'd at this aswell, however it probably wasnt with the same intentions as you, i laughed because its kinda true. Talking about pvp to FF players is like a curse word, why? you would ask...well that's because sadly FF attracts alot of weird failures who were rejected by most games or simply couldnt hang...I have played ALL MMO's so i've been very open minded about things i would say. In the end Square enix is a business who needs cash, pleasing the large majority is or should be priority. For you to say since it works for other games doesn't mean it has to be part of this game....stop and think about what you just said....Those words are so ignorant it isn't even funny. If something works in other games WHY wouldn't you use it in this one? Yes i didn't like how important WoW's pvp was but that was mostly since only certain comps works and if you weren't those certain classes you couldn't break the 2200 arena barrier. But back on subject there is a reason why WoW has over 11 million people playing it, think about that, 11 million people at 15 bucks a month....Blizzard is filthy rich now just from releasing a game that pleased the majority with a fast paced game were you could PvE or PVP, you weren't forced to PvE or PVP if pvp wasnt your thing you didnt have to do it, but for people who hate PvE they could PVP...what does this do? It grabs both types of players increasing the amount of people who play the game in general. Some people do fanboy wayyy to much its pathetic, ff fanboys and wow fanboys, i personally aren't either but i enjoy having fun and can see the pluses in every game...it isn't very hard. Until the asians learn to westernize their games with a pvp route....they will always fall in the money making department compared to other companies with common sense and understand how the MMO industry works.

Those other games had pvp, however it wasn't really an alternative, for example in WoW if you did pvp you got some of the best gear in the game FOR pvp. Oh and hiding in bushes ganking people? That's why you don't play on a pvp server LoL. The good players didn't hide in bushes ganking low lvls, they sought after challenges in the arena against people with equal gear and levels. And if you consider Ballista in FFXI pvp....just sad, it was so pathetic and such a pain in the @$$ to do. Asians loves making everything take forever though, perhaps its due to the no ladder - reset system. TERA is looking good though but they had so many years to watch the other games like WoW own the MMO industry. You think a game with WoW's speed and FF's graphics would of already been released....i just dont understand these guys.

Don't forget Ragnarok Online. Best PvP fights are if you need to defence your guild castle against 3 full guild incoming ^^
Without a good strategy and organisation and the right classes on the right places you have no chance against the top guilds.

Sorry, but this logic is flawed.

I will use it to demonstrate why FFXIV "should" be turned into an FPS.

So, support making FFXIV an FPS, or you're nothing but a fanboy.
