If they can make Final Fantasy - War Hawk style I'm all up for it LOL land and air battles all going on at same time, charging with chocobo's and having squad full of mages all lined up casting spells. But due to the server and gaming specs probably impossible...

For those of you that don't know the game.
Reinhart I think you might have found a video of the worst Warhawk pilot ever. Lol.
Look I know it's a touchy subject and all but really it's not that unrealistic.
I mean Yoshi stated somewhere that classes are supposed to be for soloing while jobs are for group play right? So why not make that coincide with PvP vs PvE? Two separate systems for PvP & PvE = perfect opportunity to make solo "classes" balance with PvP while jobs balance with PvE.
Classes can mix and match their skills which is not all that strategic for raids/NMs etc. but would be perfect for organizing an assault against a player. And on the other hand, for PvE to work you need limitations on who can do what to X monster so it wont just be a cluster fuck of people waling on it with no set strategy, which is what jobs are for. So what the hell is the incentive to playing a individual classes other than "oh I only play on the weekends and I want to solo?" Solo what? leve mobs and low level dungeons? shoot me.
Let's be real... FF fans don't solo lol... at least not us. if you've stuck around this long then you have some dedication and your heart probably is set on PvE. Why not give the few casual players we have something to be happy about?

lol @ all of you who think the CryTools engine can handle PVP. I'm all for the idea of it, in theory. Why not just have a PVP guild to join and those players can accept the possibility of proving their mettle against other guildies out in the world? Those who don't opt in... are out.
But really, there's -no- way PVP can happen with the engine/backend/server response lag as things stand now. It would look like an old couple fighting over the last yogurt.

I was one of the readily apparent minority that loved the hell out of Ballista in XI, so something akin to that would be amazing for me. Not anytime soon, of course, because it's already hard enough with this server lag to dodge 3+ second AoEs, let alone the twitch response time needed for decent PvP.
Whatever it turns out to be, it simply needs to be as heavily team oriented as Ballista was. If you ran off and did your own thing, congratulations on giving the opposition Gate Breach, thanks for playing. The devs have made it very clear that they don't want these Final Fantasy MMOs to be about your character being a one man army, you rely on others, or you fail. If there is PvP, I hope it reflects that truth.

Team PvP in XI/V = cool
Single PvP in XI/V = waaaah imbalanced classes
Keep it in a voluntary instance and it's cool.
I've been a battleground junkie in a certain un-named MMO; I've seen it all over the years in that un-named mmo, and I'm quite fond of instanced group pvp.
With that said, if I were allowed the option to choose between PVE and PVP in FFXIV, I'd definitely go the pvp route--if it were a viable alternative, and not just some thrown together thing to try to appease pvpers.
I'll let you in on a little secret: PvPers don't really care about "lore": just throw a bunch of us into a nicely designed zone and we're more than happy to smash each other's faces in--repeatedly.

This would solve a grip of problems(and induce a ton of gloating), which I am all in favor for. We have a ls on our server that is pretty big but as long as I'm not a dunesfolk dog I think I have the survival skills.![]()
I WANT PVP *GOOGLY EYES*

Unfortunately, you do a very good job of emulating exactly why I don't like having PvP in a game... because of asinine behavior like this.[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.]
Not liking or wanting any part of PvP doesn't mean people aren't competitive, or overly pacifists, or wimps, or whatever other 'care bear' terms you want to associate with the idea, it may well just mean they don't appreciate the hostile, trash talking, aggressive behavior often shown by at least someone during most rounds of PvP.
They might also just not like to lose... but players like that just don't PvP and they're done with it, no more worries.
The point is, the open, anonymous nature of the internet fuels un-sportsman like behavior that just isn't called for. There's nothing wrong with trash talking and messing around with actual friends that you're well enough acquainted with to understand, but it 'is' wrong in MMO's with people you don't know in the slightest.
So by all means, keep PvP out of XIV. And keep making posts like you have been... maybe that'll help convince the Devs that they don't want to foster such a community here.
