thats just boss mechanics which have been staple of mmorpgs since the first one, some are in favor of melee some time in favor of ranged your argument still doesn't hold water why brg/mch should be in the poor state that there in now.Im sure they do decent DMG, but not top tier. Something along the lines of 5-10% less than melee is balanced. Melee only shine in a fight where they dont have to run away from Boss mechanics. So really it depends on the boss fight as well. Lets take Garuda ex for example, if youre on the wrong side of the tornado as a melee you cant do shit, but ranged can still dps regardless, and because of that they should do less damage thats balance. You think range should do the same as melee? they can attack on the move, better than a BLM, and dodge mechanics easier than melee, and do the same DMG? obsurd

Melee loses a lot of dps time running around avoiding boss mechanics, and in the case of some classes MNK specifically, lose buffs. while BRD/MCH can just shoot from anywhere on the map. two targets on opposite ends of the map, you tell me whos gonna have higher dps ranged or melee?

would you mind to look at other mmorgs (all but final fantasy ones) and tell me plz where the range movement class is far behind anyone no matter if caster who has stand still or melee who also has to move from and to boss ect
cause look at some titles here: WoW: nope almost same dmg around all classes and who falls behind gets fixed pretty fast FOR YEARS
Guildwars 2: maybe a bad example for boss mechanics but the classes are dead even
Rift: even has a supheal and supdps underclass that is balanced out
Wildstar: perhaps the smallest one and the one i got the least exp in but im still reading the forums there are some complaints here and there but all in all is very even.
all those games have caster classes and range dps classes like hunters ect. and those classes bring utility as hell and still do enough dmg so maybe ffxiv wants to be a special little honey bunny but i dont rly get it.
also to name a boss real quick twintania i think u will remember her (TWISTER!) also the tier 2 with the illness mechanic way harder for ranges than melee shall i go on?
