    Could it be... (potential spoiler)

    that it is a primal? Like the one we find at the end of heavensward, which looks more mechanical than biological!

    I have two hypothesis about the ship being...

    1) It may be related to a event in 3.X Main Scenario Quest since now the events of Heavensward is over exploration of the sky Islands can begin properly now which leads us to figuring out the mystery of that ship.

    2) That ship could be linked to the new 24 member Raid appearing in 3.1 2 to 3 months from now.

    That was exactly my guess too actually lol. I was figuring it was the top back portion that protruded out of the clouds, but that last pic makes it seem not very large. So now I really don't know.

    A good friend of mine in one of my linkshells actually suggested it might be some form of a lunar whale. If you remember in the final cutscene, we saw the white robed Ascian and the Warrior of Darkness talking on the moon. Final Fantasy IV was the last time the FF universe went to the moon(maybe FFVIII if you count outer space and the Ragnorak). Bismarck, moon, whale!?
