Maybe Square-Enix and other companies not named Blizzard don't have the luxury to spend time AND money to develop a native adaptation of their applications ESPECIALLY when they have to do it AFTER the original windows game was released ...
Blizzard don't do late adaptations, they develop both versions at the same time. That's the key here. And they sell millions of their games, so they can afford to lose some overall profit to waste on developping a Mac version.
I'm not sure Square can yet afford doing so. FYI the mac marketshare is like 5% of the computers used in the world, at most.
The fact that 1/ macs cost double the price for half the performance (cost-wise) and 2/ about 10% max of the games are available on it, heck even emulators work worse on it. both things in the end make it so that people are less inclined in buying a mac for gaming purposes ...
And that's why game developpers don't develop native versions of their game, unless they're called Blizzard.
If you ever wondered why a lot of japanese games don't get released outside of JP.... That's just a translation time and budget thing (for niche games)
Then think about the tiiiiiiiiiiinyyyyyyyyyy mac marketshare and then ask yourself if companies are gonna waste time and money on it for little return on investment?
That's why most games on PC are just wine / wineskin / cider / etc wrappers.
Some are so badly done you can run the games better in Parrallels or VMWare Fusion lol
Or just in Bootcamp (ofc)
I used to be a Mac owner, but the headaches you get to make anything not native work on it made me stay in windows on Bootcamp more often than Mac Os, in the end I felt like paying so much more for just a brand, a computer design, and an OS that I wasn't using anymore was a waste.
Especially since they charge like 100 € for a new A/C adapter when it dies, and it barely lasted 1 year ... Welp everything about Apple is overpriced anyway, since they weren't selling many units (until the avent of iPhones, they were mostly selling iPods, not macs) they had to charge a lot for their products lol
Anyway. You got your Mac version, which in turn is just a bland wrapper (or some 'middleware' apparently) but in the end, since it's not a native version, it's obviously gonna run like crap, since even with a good gaming laptop I barely get 60 fps on windows already ..
it's not with a crappy intel integrated graphics card + opengl + wrapper that this is gonna run above 20 fps lol
