I'm pretty certain the performance issues are because it's a Cider wrapper around the Windows client, and not a native OpenGL client, thanks.Mac's have never exactly been market leaders when it comes to games. They've always been labelled as trendy office computers for businesses rather than gaming systems. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it explains why the performance might not be up to scratch. When you use something for a task it was never really designed for, it's rarely as good at it.
It is very good possible to port a windows game to the mac platform. Blizzard does a very good job with there games, there is almost no difference playing it in bootcamp or within OSX. Almost the same story with guildwars 2

some of them actually do.Honestly I don't understand why there are any conflicts like this between people. The type of OS you use is simply based on preference. You don't see people who like coffee say people who like tea are inferior. And what about the people who like coffee and tea. It really doesn't make sense to me. This is more of a rhetorical statement.

*Sigh* Why do people and companies trust third parties to do important stuff for them? It never ends well. So far we had problems with the Mac port done by a third party, the preorder from the PS store and the shipping by DHL.
I hope things will work out for you guys.

It's not the same, you see. There is no evidence that tea or coffee is better. That is just preference.Honestly I don't understand why there are any conflicts like this between people. The type of OS you use is simply based on preference. You don't see people who like coffee say people who like tea are inferior. And what about the people who like coffee and tea. However, when it comes to gaming rigs, windows is definitely better than mac, hands down. That's not preference. That's fact.

maybe they don't think they're good enough to do it all by themselves. I don't think SE can deliver packages better than DHL and can't deal with PS Store better than Sony itself. those companies supposed to be good at their business sadly they're not.

That's nothing more than the Direct3D vs. OpenGL argument, which everyone agrees Direct3D is better. There's reasons why Metal is set to introduced in the new release of OS X.
Edit: However, the sheer performance difference between the 2 APIs doesn't explain the type of performance the Mac client get.

I distinctly remember voicing my umbrage over this impending issue (Amongst many others) months back, it's a pretty big shame that I turned out to be right frankly. Just another case of SE squeezing their customer base for money and overstepping the bounds of what's moral and acceptable.

So good news everyone! I just officially got my refund credited back to me so I guess I am off to buy the PC version. I did try installing the game to a standard drive and it did absolutely nothing, tried deleting the files they said may be messed up and still crashes every minute or two in game, completely unplayable.
And regarding this mac vs pc "discussion".... why is this even a thing? It is 2015 people, and we just got gay rights and equality, but PC "gamers" can't accept Mac has the ability to play games? Wtf people? And just fyi my mac pro plays most games BETTER than my buddies "gaming rig" that he payed very close to the same amount for so take that, hahahahahahaha

Ahh you must be thinking of the old Macs, the one with the power pc processor. Macs these days have Intel processors the same as PCs. They just used an old 32 bit wrapper for the game instead of making a native Mac client. So of course this won't work its best. I use my MBP as one of my main systems and i dare say some games actually work better on Mac then they do on PC.
But the advancements the programmer were saying were metal. If I get what he is saying is that Metal would provide a much better performance and ease of use. I believe they might actually be making a native client that will use Metal to its fullest and give the best performance overall.
