Uh, there exist a free trial where the player don't need to buy the game and can test it first for 14 days
Registering the friendship code have to be before the first subscription, not before the activation code of the game. They have to FIRST buy the game (base for $20 and $40 for HW) and then use the Recruit Friend code to use it, but if they use the Activation Code from the base game they bought it locks them out of using the Friend Code you sent them. So really... there's no point to it if they don't like FFXIV. They wasted $20 - 60 for nothing.
I don't know if they can get a refund for it, but I see this as poorly thought out.

new commendation achievement. done.oh how i love the complaining in here, lets look at this, i'd say the refer a friend was mostly because they couldn't put it anywhere else, (hear me out)
if you say T5, T9 or T13, all there going to see is premade farm parties, they may of done it to assist new players, but none would assist new players so it would backfire
so not only are we paying customers, we're freelance sales people that don't get paid with money.
Umm... I tried to set up my little brother's account and use one of the Friend Codes with the Free Trial and we can't use the Friend Code. I looked around and I couldn't find where to add it and it seems like you need to buy the game first and register it to use the Friend Code first.
It's a cool mount. If I can get a buddy to play that would be nice, if not I'll continue to fly around on my griffin.
Yes, you have to buy the game (to get the full registration code) to register the friendship code.Umm... I tried to set up my little brother's account and use one of the Friend Codes with the Free Trial and we can't use the Friend Code. But you don't need to buy the game to test the game first.
Oh, the hell with that, then. Cash shop is one thing. I will support the cash shop. What I won't support is in-game items tied to $40-60 physical items I neither need nor want (as I have no freakin' room for them!)...
I'm the complete opposite thereI want those carbuncles for the sake of having the plushies -- I'd want them even if there was no code attached at all. On the other hand, I don't like the idea of the cash shop. Mainly because you don't actually buy anything, since you don't get to keep it if the servers go down. The plushies (and other similar physical objects -- with or without codes attached)? They're there even after the game is no longer playable (bar accidents that destroy them...).
not entirely the player commendations already have a 'unique' mount for there 3000 play commendation achievement, SE would of looked at the statistics of this achievement and would of used that to judge weather it would be 4000, 5000 etc, or since the perade chocobo can fly as well, it might not of been there first idea, since twin is a flying mount.
as for your bottom one, we are gamers, who recommend this game to friends, by the eyes of any marketing person, the idea that we spread news about this game is highly loved by them since it costs them nothing to do so, however since they cannot pay all of us (and with multiple laws going into effect that it is a tax nightmare) they reward us with virtual items of no real world worth.
so we are getting paid in a way that avoids every contras tax and laws .
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
