To be honest, when I heard that there was going to be a twintania mount and that there was an achievement for Frontlines kills... well... I'm very relieved it wasn't for that. While it sorta sucks to be locked behind Refer a Friend... well it wasn't too costly. I paid the money for the Sleipnir mount and it wasn't too far off from that for me.

oh how i love the complaining in here, lets look at this, i'd say the refer a friend was mostly because they couldn't put it anywhere else, (hear me out)

    heres why,
if you say T5, T9 or T13, all there going to see is premade farm parties, they may of done it to assist new players, but none would assist new players so it would backfire, as for t13 not meny people have completed this turn making it a rare exclusive to them, as for the few i have seen saying savage turn 9 thats even fewer then t13. this meaning that people would become more antisocial and also anti-newbie, and since Yoshi-p wants people to help out this idea was most likely ruled out, so the binding coils is out.

for PVP they have to look at the backlash (as well as how meny players currently play PvP) they got from the ADS mount, that people are STILL COMPLAINING about today, due to premade parties and the sudden unfairness most find within PVP, as well as Win-trading which is against TOS, but hard to track since it takes place mostly in 3rd party programs such as mumble and TS. meaning in the eyes of what the devs saw of the ADS mount, it would have to be gated through another mean, PVP kills (an easy thing for some classes Nigh impossible for others so thats out.) due to the backlash they got multiple times and seeing the states for most matches, this mount in particular was not chosen i do suspect there will be something for 3.05 but not twintania, due to the backlash they would get.

Dark knight job (this was said on reddit) no, to lock out a massive lore creature as well as one we know by name behind a job is foolish, also said class wouldn't fit this creature in particular.

Though a mission in the final zone (not saying it's name) this is the ONLY possible idea that could work with it in game, but then you'd have everyone rushing to do this quest and have thousands of twintanias, the devs obviously want it to be a bit more rarer then that. either this, or they felt this mount was not meant for a basic acquirement. (i.e via a quest)

Gold saucer, very few have the fenrir mount and that was placed there to show who won the jackpot, or those dedicated enough to earn that much, it is a sign of wealth, but Twintania wouldn't make much sense lore wise, but also it's price would have to be higher, and if that was set at say 2 to 10 milion it would require a grind the devs have deemed to un fit too fit the game.

finally Mog station, one of the few times i say yes, as the mount of HW in the Cash shop, but most seem to forget the Slepnir, mount was only added mainly as a primary funding for the EU data centre, (which apparently is coming this year.)

basically the devs must of looked at each of the ideas players have given, but have also looked at the statistics and assumed the best corse, which is to do a compromise, they give us what we wanted, (the twintania mount) by in exchange giving them what they want, (1 loyal player, or 3 new subs)

like it or not, it is better then the alternatives. with this we both get what we wish for, and it is not locked behind a wall that only a few may ever see, they want mounts to be something to stride for yes, but when people no longer stride for something they won't put a bigger apple infront of the dead horse.

I hope people forever remember this when they stomp and shout against a cash shop implementation. At least then it would have been easily obtained. I have only 2 RAF, and refuse to spend 60+ to get a third. I'd have rather it be $50 in the cash shop.

You do realize friend you've already recruited count toward it right. if either of them subbed for 150 days you've got 15 feathers enough for the twin mount

They should stick it in the cash shop. I'd be fine with paying $24 for it, just like sleipnir. Leave the friend recruit option in. A way people can earn it for free but those that don't have any friends to convince, can still get it.

T5 is literally farmable by a terribad 4 man party at level 60, so go figure if you need to gather much people for it. PVP is just a snorefest but all it can do is take time. Dark Knight same story. A long mission would be a grind too, but nothing extraordinary. Gold saucer? I have the mount tomorrow if they add it there for 1 million MGP. And finally the mogstation, I would've paid almost whatever they've asked for this mount.

Recruiting friends isn't a wall? I've been trying to recruit them through here in the new player section and reddit (started a week ago), offering 5 and even 10 million gil to whoever used one of my codes, and here I am, sitting with 0 recruits. This recruit a friend thing is the absolute biggest wall they could ever add, in fact, I can't, absolutely can't think of anything worse. It's perfectly possible this campaign ends, I try my best to recruit people and I end up wasting my time (this scenario could never happen provided they added the mount in any of "your other walls").

Gamers tend to go for the path of least resistance, meaning most would just buy the mount from the store rather than go through the trouble of recruiting a friend into the game (particularly one that is going to continue subscribing). I suspect in the long run that would mean less money for SE.

As for this thread, the real problem is everyone wants in on an item that happens to be a reward for a very specific purpose: recruiting friends to play the game.

I brought a friend in to play FFXIV with me via this campaign. 8 months later we're still playing it together every day, with no plans on that changing anytime soon. It's that simple a process.

Yes, if you're trying to work the system specifically to get "reward stuff" (by buying multiple copies/subs or throwing codes out to random strangers and hoping to score a long-term player) it's going to be annoyingly frustrating - mainly because it wasn't meant to be done that way.

I get it.. some people had all their friends join prior to this campaign's introduction and now have no one left to bring in. But whether it's game-stuff or real-life stuff, there are going to be plenty of times where we all miss out on a special offer because the timing just happened to be off. It happens, yet somehow the world keeps on spinning.

Personally, I'm just happy that SE is being nice enough to continue to reward participants of the Recruit a Friends campaign regardless of when their participation began (rather than limiting this to only new recruited friends going forward). And while I understand the notion of wanting credit for friends invited prior to the introduction of this campaign, we both know there is zero way for them to truly know who was brought in by whom without those recruitment codes. It is what it is.

I'll just buy 3 copies of the game and recruit myself.

I plan on buying three copies of the game if it goes down to $10 and giving them to friends to register (not account sharing; they'll own the account) just in case they want to play at some point in the future.

A lot of people are cheapskates that refuse to spend money if they don't have to. If there's a free alternative, they'll go for it.
