The core of an mmo will always be socializing and doign stuff with others, hell thats an over arching theme in japanese media alone, so there games will be more group centric and I like that. But a game that wants people to group shouldn't make grouping something you have to go out of your way to do, it should be natural, and I feel like games that aren't even group centric are doing a better job at leading people into groups than FF is right now.
Even with FFXI grouping was sort of something you went out of your way for if you hit the game at a later point, and with this game I'm still fearing that same thing "if you join this game 3 years down the road its a harder path to max level for you because we don't know how to keep our beginning areas revitalized for old players"
So whether this is XI-2, or its just XIV, they need to learn the good and the bad from XI, and instead it feels like "OH XI DIDN'T EXIST", Japanese companies do this all the time, "you like Resident Evil outbreak? REALLY? That was a niche game, our next game is going to appeal to western market and not to westerners who liked our previous games made for japanese markets" "oh I thought you guys like streamlined games after looking at Mass Effect 2, but then I guess we should of waited to streamline XIII until after the results of the bioware streamlining came back to hit them in the face." Seriously, they just forget about the people who actually liked there games, whether we're niche or not, and then they make a half assed westernization that the true western idiots don't like, and the niche gamers feel alienated by. Stick to your guns, make games that we like and don't alienate your main player base!
