lol Holyomen ; ; -why must you ppl torment me so! T.T

You guys know that it's a carbon-copy of XI, just admit it.....yes, there were big, big changes made, but there's no denying it. Look at FFX compared to FFX-2. I could say the same thing to you about those: "UHH, oh duh, the storyline was a continuation of the first one and the title said it was sequel, blah, blah, blah, blah; I'm so funny. I see the connection now."

I'd love to have BCNMs and more content, but if Maat gets a cameo in this I will personally pay you a visit.

Maat: So sonny, you wanna be a Dark Knight eh?
    Holy Omen: Graaaaaaah!

Hmm, I've played MMOs since their MUD days and I'm pretty sure most "normal MMOs" didn't have me prove my strenght against my summoned creature before I'm allowed to summon it as an evoker class.

Storyline flow was nonexistent in most, you just did quests, got exp. The active storyline was told at the beginning of the game and never throughout.

Few MMOs had a crafting system.

3 MMOs that I know of have a system that allows you to change jobs at will.

Not exactly the best of argument to relate FFXI to FFXIV. Might as well just say that they act as save-points have had throughout the entire FF series. It's not a concept limited to their MMO's, but the execution is. Still no reason to name FFXIV as FFXI-2.

Races, yes. That's the ONE unique thing that can link FFXI to FFXIV. However, the lore of the races are different, not to mention that physical appearances are slightly altered. Besides, using this logic, the FFTA2game should be aptly renamed FFXII-3, since they share the same races, and ARE IN THE SAME DAMN WORLD.

    -Storyline Flow
    -Progression Flow
I have to agree Geesus on this; MMO's have similar storyline and progression levels and changes and flows. They still come in their ranks, tiers, or whatever they're called, they're still initiated by quests, and they still have the same levelling system at its core. Not limited to MMO's, and definitely not limited to FFXI and FFXIV in the FF series.

    -Primal Concept
    -Primal Battle concept
Most Final Fantasies have had the player to battle the respective summon in order to summon them. So, basing of that, shall we named all subsequent Final Fantasies FF-1, FF-2, FF-3? Oh wait, that's what they ARE doing.

And the primal concept is different from the summons in FFXI. Summons in FFXI are the 'sleeping gods', linked to neither the races of FFXI nor the beastmen of Vana'diel. They exist regardless in an abstained presence within their crystals, and are fought in battle in order to gain some part of their power. Otherwise, they are inactive throughout Vana'diel. But the primals in FFXIV are linked to the beastmen tribes, and show a lively manner in which they manipulate the beastmen. They are summoned THROUGH the crystals, meaning they exist as the energy, and not as an entity inside a crystal as the Avatars were. Also, we know NOTHING about how the primal battle with Ifrit will work out exactly. Nothing has been shown, so that can't be used as a link to FFXI.

    -Dungeon Concept
....Honestly? HONESTLY? Does having a dungeon automatically make it a FFXI-2? My god, numerous MMO's and FF games have had dungeons scattered EVERYWHERE. What makes FFXI and FFXIV unique in this aspect?

    -Upcoming job system
I see you haven't played the first few FF games. Or the international version of FFXII. They all have the jobs system in place, so there's nothing that makes it unique to FFXI. Besides, we don't know WHAT the job system is truly about. So that idea is still not fully shaped enough to be compared to FFXI's subjob system.

    -Crafting changes
And all changes automatically make it a FFXI-2 because the changes made are similar to...what? Hmm. This point, I'm a bit confused with; please elaborate a bit more.

    Need I go on?
Yep. Provide more similarities which are UNIQUE to FFXI and FFXIV, and perhaps this game can be considered a FFXI-2, aside from the obvious ones being of the MMO genre, races and starting cities.

Honestly, one glaring thing that should stand out that FFXIV is NOT a FFXI-2 is it's bloody setting. One's in VANA'DIEL, one's in HYDAELYN. One is more medieval and primal, with a mix of folk-tale traits in it, and an influence on magic. One is more modern and techy, while still retaining some medieval forms, but less reliance on the arcane arts. Already a high reason why FFXIV is NOT and should never be a FFXI-2.
