Gyson, your pseudo-intellectual posting is hilarious. Please don't stop. I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or serious, but it's very entertaining.
Replace the word "gamer" with the word "customer" and the entire tone of the statement changes. Why are gamers considered lesser customers than say, someone with a gym membership? If the gym closes early or whatever, the owner lets us take a class free to make up for the one we missed. I mean, this attitude that gamers are somehow less deserving of respect because 'gaming' is our hobby is just mind-boggling. That it's coming from within our own community...
Holy macaroni I hope some of you never try to run a real live business and treat your customers with statements like that.
I was exactly thinking the same >_>For a few days I thought we might get by without someone making this post...
Troll bait /10
Because the Op request WAS nonsense. Why should they compensate us for the installation of the Expansion Pack? What would be compensation? 1 extra day on your sub? Most of the responses that followed the original post are utter nonsense. And in the end I'm not sure what's more surprising.. the 16+ pages of nonsense that followed the original post, or how obvious it is that so many people can't think things through before submitting a response.
Ask a stupid question, get stupid answers. Sorry bud. And the stuff you quoted as "nonsense" responses all sound pretty legit to me. The only instance I would consider requesting some compensation is if there were issues like 2.0 launch which led to the game getting taken down for up to a week to be fixed and patched. It's one bloody day.... I'm sure no one seeks compensation if they cant log in for a day due to their own RL commitments.
The entitlement in strong in this one.
I'm terribly sorry, our coffee machine is empty, it will take 3-5 min for the pot to brew so here, let me give you a second cup of coffee for free.Replace the word "gamer" with the word "customer" and the entire tone of the statement changes. I'm sorry, it will be a 3 min wait on those fries, so let us give you a second small fry for free.
I'm sorry, our buisness is closed for renovations for the next 24 hours so in exchange we will give everyone free food for the 24 hours following our reopening.
Nice to see you understand how businesses work from a cranky customer point of view. Trust me, the customer is NOT always right.

Of all the MMOs I have played over the past 15 or so years, I have never seen one do any compensation for a known maintenance day. Not once. Compensation for network outages and emergencies, yes, but never for maintenance that was known far in advanced. Now if we all can't play tomorrow for the whole day, yes I expect some kind of apology or compensation. For today? Nope. I doubt contacting them will do you much good anyway, since again, it was known.
