Every other game I play including F2P games. Blizzard/WoW has added at least 5 days in the past year due to downtime. Even FREE games like Marvel Heroes gives compensation for longer than normal downtime by giving 100% bonus drop/XP weekends or vanity pets. This is the only game I play with such a hateful community when it comes to stuff like this, it's embarrassing reading the posts when the OP probably came from almost any other game out there.

As to scheduled maintenance, no other game takes 24 hours, even for major expansions.

"Longer than normal" 24 hours is a pretty understandable downtime for an entire expansion update.

Except that was only done after the game was in a totally unstable state for the first week of the expansion launch(hello being stuck in the floor for 3 days), nothing at all to do with pre expansion maintenance.

I had a feeling you were going to mention Blizzard. For the record though, Blizzard has never -ever- reimbursed gametime for SCHEDULED maintenance. They have only given it for extreme extensions and/or unplayability of the game.

They have also never scheduled 24 hours of maintenance. Doesn't bother me either way, I'm doing RBGs on Wow on my other monitor as I type this (yay for being on defense) plus I still need to go to the gym today. Only reason I posted is against the toxic community here since the OP probably came from a different game; I mean did we really need 150 posts flaming the guy?

Fair enough. Though, for WoD launch they probably should have gone ahead and schedule 4-7 days of maintenance so I didn't continually torture myself attempting to play on a high pop server. :P

I just didn't play WoW for the first week of WoD, played SW:ToR during that mess. Just like if HW is a hot mess I wont complain and play some WoW, or go to the Zoo since I haven't been in a while. But I won't come on here and flame people for asking (to them) an honest question.

I don't disagree. I try not to flame, but I have been a part of the "MMO community" long enough to accept that forums, for whatever reason, bring out the nasty in a lot of people.

Every forum for every game ever treats people this way. The OP asked a question with a fairly obvious answer. And, he got flamed for it. I don't agree with it. But, it's also completely unsurprising.
