Oh, I keep some crafting mats in my inventory (not my retainer), usually the stuff I use a lot. I just can't understand keeping so much around that you have an entire retainer full.

Speaking of! I finally went and cleaned out all the Mats I'll never use. Things that don't sell get vendor-ed. Things that do, yay~ But ya... I'm never ever again filling two inventories worth of mats ever ever again. Oo My main inventory still is stuck with 1.5 tabs free.

Yeah, my general rule is that if I haven't used it in 2 weeks, it's time to put it up on the MB. Otherwise you just end up hoarding things that you never really use because you keep telling yourself that you'll craft something with it someday.Speaking of! After looking you up, I can fully see why you don't need retainer space. Cul is your only craft. You only have 2 classes at 50.

I also have multiple sets of gear for the classes I'm currently leveling (ARC, PGL and PLD) as well as a whole bunch of Primal/Coil weapons for them from farming. I'm still only at 288 inventory spaces full. After looking you up, I can fully see why you don't need retainer space. Cul is your only craft. You only have 2 classes at 50.

Yes, now multiply that by having all dom/dow, all crafters and all gatherers leveled.

Well I'm the master of a free company that regularly recruits new people to the game and it is very rewarding to be able to help craft them HQ gear anytime they need to to help them on their way to 50. Since I have 50 in every crafting class, I am able to do so, but only because I have already spent hours farming and collecting extra materials to do so. When you are still as new to the game as you are, its really not possible for you to grasp just how much there is in the game.

I've been playing for nearly a year-- I just don't feel the need to hoard every single item I get, especially not if it's something that can be easily obtained. If I don't like the way a particular piece of gear looks, I turn it in for seals rather than keep it around for the sake of having a complete set. If it's a crafting material and I haven't used it in 2 weeks, I sell it. I used to hang on to everything and I ended up with an inventory full of junk that I wasn't using and that was just taking up space, so now I much prefer to pare things down to what I actually do use and need on a regular basis.Well I'm the master of a free company that regularly recruits new people to the game and it is very rewarding to be able to help craft them HQ gear anytime they need to to help them on their way to 50. You're not getting it. We have a mansion I craft things for regularly, which I still have to go farm logs and shards for very often. We use the mansion as our own personal city. We have everything a city has and more because of the crafting looms. When I am crafting HQ sets every day for something, I use just about every type of material I have, and I have a lot. Just today, I crafted about 40 pieces of HQ gear each for about 15 different people that want to try AST, DRK, and whatever Machinist is abbreviated to. Do you know how many different materials that takes? It's probably a full retainer's worth of different materials. When it is crafting that many items, it is insane to sell items to an NPC when it might cost me 1000 gil to craft just one piece of material when considering shard costs.
Not to mention the crafting I do for spirit bonding, the crafting I do to sell, and there is just so much more that you really aren't considering.
