I generally just go out and gather all the things I need for a crafting project for the day.But why do you need an entire retainer for mats? The only mats I keep around are the rare/expensive ones that aren't easily obtained. Otherwise, I just buy what I need off the MB, craft whatever it is I wanted to craft, and then resell the rest. I don't keep mats precisely because they're a huge waste of inventory space when I can just go buy what I need when I need it.
Besides the point: What you buy, someone has stores of, ie likely mostly taking up some space in an inventory.
Because I have all my gatherers leveled and it's a waste of money buying mats. It's also a waste of time goingout to gather only a specific amount exactly whenI need it. And I don't think you are considering people with all classes leveled - of course we have a lot of gear. But why do you need an entire retainer for mats? Sure, if I only had one or 2 classes leveled the current amount of space would be plenty. But with all 50s, it's far from it.
That may be the case on a large pop server, but on smaller ones, like my own, what you need is never on the market board. If you don't farm it, you better expect to pay way more than its worth. But why do you need an entire retainer for mats? I'm a bit offended by this whole thing really. The amount of content in this game is doubling, or at least that is what Yoshi P has said, and we are paying for the expansion, as well as the subscription cost. So why charge us even more? It's an insult to the entire player base.
I think the inventory issues stem from the system they built upon. I agree from a service standpoint that the inventory should not be an issue for people who want to play everything because it is an option. I'm tired and half asleep, so I could be half-dreaming up this answer, but they could probably update their database with a new table that keeps track of specific player IDs and pairs them up with the IDs of items that they own or owned. With that in hand, the player only needs to have owned an item at some point in time to count towards glamour. The game would just query the game's database for items you owned, show you a list, and let you pick what you want in order to change your item appearance using the glamour system. No inventory space required.
This would require changing the schema of the database, but adding a new table that doesn't effect any of the other relations shouldn't pose an issue for the design team.
Things are always easy enough to explain away in hindsight... if one knows the reasons and the general picture before something happens or is done, but only takes to expressing them properly afterwards, well...
Oh, I keep some crafting mats in my inventory (not my retainer), usually the stuff I use a lot. I just can't understand keeping so much around that you have an entire retainer full.
I would really like to find someone with all classes to 50 who thinks storage "isn't a problem". If such a person exists they must not care at all about glamour.
