All the person had to do was communicate, and ask. Just a simple "does anyone want this item? I didn't contribute, so do you mind if I roll on the item?".How did that person even know if people even wanted it? What if he/she passed on it having the mindset you mentioned above and it got destroyed because nobody else wanted it? I'm all for being courteous, but this is not a situation where being courteous is even relevant. Everybody should have a chance for the loot no matter when you join.
