OK now I see the chain argument here and I know it wont stop until someone snap...
Please continue... I want to see who's won and who's lose.
And nobody care about OP whining anymore.

OP could of prevented more loot from being leeched on by kicking afterwards if they did nothing up to final boss.
It is a punishment, The person is locked out now because of impatient players. If the players can pull in confidence then they should not even bother Q'ing for another player period. That's just how it is, you're wasting time for another person if you Q for in progress only to expect for them to be SoL and not have loot rights cause they joined at an awful time which couldn't possibly be helped.
If a healer healed the whole dungeon then I'd personally expect the healer to be more than capable btw, meaning cut the 2nd hand off if the healer after being asked confirms that they are fine before Q'ing someone else in selfishly because of feeling you need the 2nd hand.
And just so you know, people do sometimes join in progress for loot too. If there's no loot then expect less in progress players to begin with and expect some people to suffer when they can't heal things without that 2nd hand. :/

What happened after this is not the subject of this discussion and really isn't relevant.OP could of prevented more loot from being leeched on by kicking afterwards if they did nothing up to final boss.

And just so you know, people do sometimes join in progress for loot too. If there's no loot then expect much less in progress players to begin with and expect people to suffer when they can't heal things without that 2nd hand. :/
And I disagree. Players know when they queue in progress that they may very well end up in the duty AFTER the loot they want has already dropped. They know they may very well end up in a failed raid. They take many risks by queuing in progress and knowingly do so when they sign up.
The people who choose to look for a replacement simply want to allow people who queued in progress, knowing those things, to assist with the remainder of the raid. If people queuing in progress want guaranteed access to specific loot chests, they should queue for the instance from the beginning.
People who are signing up in progress are signing up to finish the raid in practice, because they know that by queuing in progress, they may not end up where they want to be. I'm aware that people may have certain loot in mind when they queue in progress, but by doing so, in practice they are simply signing up to finish a raid, because they may not end up where they want to be in the loot chest order.
If I'm wanting loot from the 2nd boss, I'm not going to queue in-progress unless I have other reasons for doing so. I'm going to queue from the beginning. It makes little sense to take the unnecessary risk of ending up in the instance after the boss I want, then being back at the back of the queue line when I leave.
Edit: And no one is advocating removing their ability to loot at all. Just advocating that they not get to loot on things that they don't contribute to.
That's not very nice.

What I'm about to say isn't implying that someone who did all the healing isnt more deserving than someone who just joined and didn't take part, but you sometimes have to look at it from the other side too. You say you just came back from a year long break and are trying to get gear. The person who won it may have been trying to get it since WoD came out. Maybe that person felt entitled because for all you know, they've done the dungeon over and over and never see it drop, or someone else wins, or a similar situation to what happened to you, happened to them.
Maybe they assumed nobody was after it, since people usually go on the job they can need as (although since it looks like you don't have bard and are after it for machinist, its understable), since there was obviously no bard in the group, or no bards that wanted it. They just look at it and think 'oh, I'll greed, nobody else is probably after it'
I've been trying to get that bard body since WoD came out and I never see it drop. The two times I've seen it was when I went tank for tank gear. I'd recommend going in with a group of people you know and working out what you want. Thats what my own group does regularly, we go in as whatever we want and work it out between us who gets what and nobody needs on something if they're competing with another person on a different job
The topic author should absolutely take a break, get some fresh air and partake in a different past time for a bit. Nothing he/she experiences in a video game should have such a devastating effect on his/her emotional well-being. It's like arguing with people on the internet, it just isn't worth the time.
OP clearly hinted that it bothered them that the leecher also got the final boss loot to boot, so it is partially relevant. If it bothered them so much that the player was leeching then why continue to allow them to clearly leech off of them and fellow members? how is that fair to anyone in the 8 man group they were in?
Especially when they are going to clearly continue to put in effort without any support from their partner? It just seems like a waste to allow a leecher/lazy player into a group who also just 'ninja'd' loot.
