DEV REQUEST:DUEL/SPAR system

It's like people skim over the suggestions to limit any and all duel abuse every single time it is mentioned. The simplest way to put duels in game is to just lock it behind a quest. If you don't have the quest completed, the option to duel won't even exist, similar to how Triple Triad functions. The quest can even be placed in Wolves Den Pier, a scarcely visited area, so people can't complain about having an "annoying quest marker on the map". The option to auto-decline duels even after it is unlocked can be added as well for those times you don't feel like getting duel requests.

I think the whole argument can come to an agreeable close if this one question can be answered, "Why do you want to involve those that don't want to be?"

We don't want to involve you. It wouldn't be any fun dueling someone that doesn't want to do it. A lot of the suggestions are catering to the people that don't want to Duel. Now, if your reply is going to be along the lines, "but I'll see duels happening thus making me involved" then there really isn't anything else to say.

I dont understand why people are against dueling, if they themself are not going to use it.

The reason I am seeing so far is, for the most part is not an inherent hate of PVP or duelling as it were, its how people envision this game, I can only assume they can only see this game as good vs evil and that stuff like this cannot exist for some reason, the story here being used is this developments team work, not the past FF storyboard writers or the like.

PVP to the ones here feel it should not belong here like its their game and only their game, even though its the developers vision and it contains many things that go against the grain of traditional final fantasy already so dunno why this should be any different.

They should make a Triple Triad only server as well. I dislike walking around Gold Saucer or at the Adventurer's Guild and being constantly barraged by requests to card battle despite my deck being subpar.

So your only counter is the same tired, inane, "I don't even want to see it!". Good to know.

Also good to know that you think entire servers should be inconvenienced in order to create (at least) three PvP servers (JP/NA/EU, or should the PvP server only be in one location and inconvenience more people?). All those people that want to move to the Duel Servers should have to lose any land they might own, lost most of their Gil and pay to move (though they could remove those transfer limits I suppose). All the PvE players currently on that server who don't want to be on the designated PvP servers should also have to stomach those inconveniences. Why? Because you're too inconvenienced by just seeing duels. As if people doing duels would somehow be more populous than people doing Treasure Maps or some other piece of content which pulls people into the open world for a change. As if there would be some kind of massive gathering of duelers all over the place getting in the way.

I'm sorry, that's absurd. We're done here.

MMOs that have PVP do have PVP server where the option to participate in PVP is removed, no one is asking for this, people are asking for a request to another player which can be both blocked and denied to begin with on a PVE server.

People are asking for open world interaction for duelling against another player where it is asked, they are not asking for open world free for all PVP where you get ganked.

PvP Balance Whiners ruined everything.

So NO to Duelling and NO to any PvP related Stuff. Im really happy that PvP in XIV is more like joke than a serious Corner of the Game.

Well at least you're honest about it, but FYI, PvP is balanced separately to PvE in this game, so... What's your point? Duels wouldn't suddenly cause SE to balance PvE in line with PvP... Heck, most of the thread has been PvPers advocating duels with no additional balancing in place, since we can actually balance matches ourselves. White Mage verses Dragoon might be unbalanced, but I'd rather have that for practice purposes and balance a serious 1v1 myself.

Gotta be honest with you, this game is balanced around end game and has pvp dedicated skills, in my experience I have seen PVE balance ruin PVP then the otherway around, PVP balance barely affects PVE since they adjust extra parameters to adjust for this just like they currently do here.

Have to ask you this in all honesty, if a class is found to be over powered in PVE and PVP had nothing to do with it, how do you feel about that?

Least I can do for you That SE is really separating the Skills for PvE and PvP is like Christmas Eve all over again but still...that hatred won't be gone so fast...it's like nidhoggs fury over his stolen eye or something

Of Course i would feel like "they need to fix that" But PvE Players don't go around like "whine whine this dragoon (example) has this jump where i cant hit him and he kills me with that EVERY TIME CUZ I CANT HIT HIM" That the Whiner in Question is more likely simply too dumb for that is out of Question. He's the King! He has the full PvP Gear! You know what i mean...

PvE Players just be more like "Wow thats overtuned...let's use it the best we can in raid for our progess until they balance it." Of Course when they nerf it there will be always some of that Class that whine about it in the Forums.
