I know. Imagine if they had more than one set of race specific gear. The forum would be on complete melt down, and there wouldn't be enough cane shakers to go around.

But guys can look good in dresses and skirts for sure. It depends on their physique and the outfit of course, though.
Lol, that may be true, but a bulge would still be there even in masculine underwear. Has nothing to do with masculine vs feminine clothing. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong as many people don't want to see bulges, but your opinion should still be the same even in masculine underwear. I'm just saying it has nothing to do with the feminine vs masculine style. There are loose feminine and masculine styles for the lower area, just like there are snugger feminine and masculine clothing for down there.

most of the others are of boys. boys and girls look quite alike a young age, which is why it's difficult to even tell if some of these are boy or girl.

this is what ppl wore in the 80s, that doesn't mean it looks good, or should be popular today, or in XIV.

Maybe new hairstyle for your DRK, cause it was fashionable...long ago...
That was not the only feminine outfit. Your computer must not be showing all of the images. You're also getting personal taste and fashion trends mixed with the topic of feminine vs masculine clothing. This is about feminine vs masculine clothing, not whether you personally like an outfit or not. There are plenty of other pictures. The images you posted have nothing to do with feminine or masculine style. The outfit in the image you quoted from my post is a popular feminine style that happens to look good on him as well. I also pointed out that depending on what area of the world you are in, skirts and dresses are worn by males even today. Also, saying that just because something looked good in one time period doesn't mean it looks good now means you completely overlooked most of what was pointed out in the post because I pointed out that it has nothing to do with time period. It has to do with how use you are to seeing something and the mental conditioning from a young age. As for the boys, in a couple of those photos they look like boys and still look just as fine. You're implying that wearing feminine clothing is only okay if you look female. Before pants existed, boys were never switched over to pants at a certain age. It should also be noted that the reason males started wearing different clothes like pants, is not because it looked better on males, but because of a superiority complex and wanting to separate themselves from females status-wise, or for convenience reasons also such as inventing high heels to be able to provide more secure footing on the stirrups of horses and also became a masculine status thing as they made the men even taller. Eventually females started wearing them and the shoes were worn by the upper class (males and females) for status, and eventually men switched away from wearing them. The history of pants vs skirts/dresses, and other articles of clothing varies by area of the world.

If you were to go back in time, those people would say the same thing about your clothing, that it looks bad, again because of mental conditioning and exposure/lack of exposure.

I dunno.. I like it, but I think I preferred the cloth wrap. All that gold and nothing else (Except for maybe the dye-able jewel?) looks a little bit weird imo. Either way, nice picture Nozomi!

There are a few people wishing they could wear the opposite outfit (especially with the yukata), but not nearly as many as those who are upset about the imbalance between gender-locked outfits.
I agree with the bolded part, that is the whole bloody point here.

The swimsuits and the yukatas though - correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I remember, those are from a time when the gender-locking was actually balanced. Sure they are separated into guy and girl sets, but each has a counterpart, they come in pairs so to say, for guys and girls. Hence the lack of outcry about those. Again, as far as I remember. And that's exactly the thing that's been increasingly missing lately.

Oh you can be sure that there ARE people that would like access to everything restricted from their gender. BUT the issue has come into play when they make "male" sets and "female" sets, and then the "male" sets are unisex but the female sets are restricted. This causes an imbalance because then the "exclusivity" is cheapened.

At least in the case of the Yukata and the Civilian clothes the sets ARE exclusive AND they are equally relevant. People may grumble and go "I wish..." but they won't fight so hard for it.

I agree Sylvia. ^_^ That's why my first alternate design still had cloth and why I don't generally care for jewelry only tops. I'm actually interested in fashion design on top of being an artist (I'm also in college for goldsmithing/silversmithing but don't take these designs as an example of what I tend to make). Obviously taste/preference is a personal thing but in my opinion this skirt needs the balance of cloth somewhere on the torso or it looks 'off'.

I think it's more an issue of needing those splashes of color on the top than anything.

It just looks a bit imbalanced. Overall I like it though!

That's what I meant =) There's a comparative lack of an outcry because they are balanced.

Ah yeah, I didn't specify that but those splashes of color are what the cloth contributes. The top is kind of empty without the chunks of cloth/color. OuO
