I agree, I liked that in XI you could ride a bird and avoid a tedious waste of time fighting or avoiding mobs while trying to get to somewhere you want to be.
@Leonesaurus
Pretty nice ideas all around, and it's good to know they are already working on this. I'm interested in this "chocobo growth system" and what exactly they mean by it tho.
I love it and was highly anticipating the idea of chocobos being attackable by mobs. Being invulnerable just doesn't feel right in my opinion. Good info there. Everything seems right to me.
And it is not the first time this makes an appearance in the series. In FFXIII it was also possible to get knocked off the chocobo after being hit three times by mobs.

I just don't see a chocobo passing by wolves or malboros w/o getting attacked. I mean, if I were a Flame Drake I'm pretty sure I'd attack that big yellow bird racing toward me! So being able to get attacked on your chocobo makes sense. IMO

This sounds pretty interesting. I appreciate the realism. I wonder if it'll be possible to outrun certain mobs with abilities or by sheer speed difference alone.Hello, this is Yoshida, the producer/director.
Both types of Chocobos can be attacked by enemies while you ride them.
If you receive too much damage while you are riding a Chocobo, you will be knocked off the Chocobo.
Whee! More music. I wonder if it's another track on the OST or if it'll be something all new like the Grand Company themes.Rental and Personal Chocobos will have different appearances and different background music.
Also, given that Yoshi and his crew want to implement instanced chocobo combat, I wonder if dungeons where you'd ride chocobos would work at all.

I'm glad that all of my thoughts for the basis of the mount system are there--that is, having both the FFXI rental system and the mount system you see in other MMOs in place so everyone's happy. I kind of wish that I could use chocobos to bypass the insta-pwn meat gates in front of zones like Mor Dhona at a lower level like I could in FFXI, but I'll gladly take portable mount usage as an exchange for that. This should make getting around much less of a nightmare, and I won't feel compelled to stop playing when I run out of anima.
It's to, dare I say, unrealistic, to not be attacked. Tho when I see wolves walking around antelopes with no care in the world I tend to wonder, but that's another matter.I'm glad that all of my thoughts for the basis of the mount system are there--that is, having both the FFXI rental system and the mount system you see in other MMOs in place so everyone's happy. now that would be interesting to see a wolf pack take on a herd of antelopes.. TAKING ALL BETS!! 2-1 on the lvl 40 antelope vs the lvl 45 wolf!

All I know is I'm looking forward to the future implementation of different colored Chocobos. Red Chocobo for my red-haired character? Yes, please.
