New glamour dress on a male (art)

Someone knowledgeable in 3D design. Please enlighten me: what on earth is the difference between making a change from A to B and making that same change from B to A? Sorry, but that's been such a hogwash to me ever since I saw it, I just can't wrap my head around this reasoning.

It may just be a petty excuse, because the devs/whoever else has a say in such things doesn't want it added for whatever reason, that isn't as easily marketable. It's always easier to say "Oh, we can't do it because restrictions/limits of our development tool.".

Outside of gender equality (won't get on it), why would men want to look like women? You can just purchase a fantasia if you want to look the part. This particular dress wouldn't match male physiology anyways and looks foolish.

Because all male characters you see in this game are actually men in real life. And all straight men too of course. /duh

My character is not a representation of myself but of what I like, and if I want to dress him up with make up, short shorts and high heels for my own enjoyment then he's going to wear it and no one should be concern about why or what my avatar is wearing or looking like.

As I said in another post I am personally not comfortable playing with a female character in this game, and I shouldn't have to be forced to spend money and change my avatar just to be allowed to wear something I like while others have no such restrictions.


And to those talking about the norm in our world, please rethink for a second that this is a video game set in a fantastic medieval universe with dragons, giant chickens, where people can dress as a snowman or in their under-wears freely and 'bound' with anyone of their choice. So idk, can you run around in public almost naked and have a same sex 'wedding' in every country? As far as I know I don't think that's the case.

Men already had access to a few dresses, skirts and revealing clothing and it didn't bother the devs to create those back then.
What is not normal is that all gear can be worn by a gender but not by the other. What's next, certain races getting bonus glamour gear? Because this is exactly what it feels like if you choose to play with a male character. There is no reason for this preference when all players pay the same price.

Also, we plan on creating more exciting male-specific equipment in the future to help the balance of gender-specific gear.

It's a shame they then decided to reverse their position here and make the male specific arab gear (I mean, the open vests for example!) and then decide to make it accessible to females after all. We're not new to Developers making promises they don't keep (Yoshida on personal house pricing being different from free company pricing), but it's still altogether a shame. SE should not say they plan to make "more exciting male-specific equipment" if they decide to make it available to females as well after all. A straight up, "No, now bugger off" would have been more direct than this sneaky business of saying A but doing B.

EDIT: In fact, I'd much prefer if they just advertise the clothing as unisex and then female-exclusive as a bonus, instead of this nonsense "male version" which is hogwash because there IS no male version. It's a unisex version with a female-exclusive version.

Mmorpgs used to be about xp, killing monsters, having fun with friends. Its sad that they turned into these gender bias disputes. If you are a dude and wanna wear a dress in real life do it. If you want to complain about gender bias in real life do it.

But please leave that stuff out of this game. It's getting old seeing these petty requests appear over and over on the forums.

No. Games do not exist in a vacuum. The "real world" effects video games and video games effect the "real world".

And dealing with actual sexism is not petty. Yes being okay with women wearing pants and suits while not being okay with men wearing dresses and skirts is sexist.

I will point out as others may have that females don't get every option. Those beach sets where the males get the cool tatts and beads, I'd love for some of that, but alas we just get bikini tops which I couldn't care less about. Maybe only be one instance but honestly, it still exists. So it's not a perfect world for female characters either.

We also don't start posts complaining about it everyday. I realize that it may be difficult to hear but everyone is not comfortable with alternative lifestyles. Just as you would like respect be respectful of the devs and respect their choices. If they have yet to reply to these inquires then maybe you have already been given an answer.

As someone linked before, they did reply to the "inquires" by stating they'd make more male-exclusive gear. They then decide to mock the community by presenting two sets of clothing, calling one the "male version" and the other the "female version", whereas there's a unisex outfit and a female outfit. That's just being an unnecessary jerk on behalf of the developers.

Not sure if the Japanese culture would accept men being able to wear female dresses. Most changes in ff 14 is based off the feedback from homeland players over us.

I posted my thread on their forums at the deadest hours so they should just about start seeing it today but already it has 32 likes. ^_^

Since I drew the entire thing from scratch I'm just going to adjust stuff to fit your frame; if I drew it on the pictures you posted I'd have to start all over. ; ) I have a volunteer from ENTM that's offering up his own Roe for the edit so whoever gets theirs to me first get's it.

Um lol... There was a damn riot of female characters when it was announced that the male GoldSaucer gear would not be unisex. They all had the exact same reaction as us asking for equality in glamour gear.
One piece of gear with a tattoo sleeve doesn't equal the +10 pieces of gear that female have more than male. You don't get the male version but you get a female gender lock version at least. MNK are getting two pieces of gear with tattoo, should we expect a riot for this too? I think you should be glad that female got their own version compared to male characters that get nothing for all those glamour sets.
