Why do people keep opening these threads covering the exact same thing...we have had the problem since August 2013. If they haven't implemented a SINGLE one of the perfectly simple solutions which have already been offered by us, they are not interested in stopping the problem.
As to expecting anyone from SE to actually SAY something in a forum response on ANY topic...I have seen two...in the LORE forum.
Balmung, The last strong hold. Where RMT only very rarely slip by server lockouts.
Ever since I moved to Excalibur, I might get 2 a day...so nice!
For every "Solution" that is found, More ways around them are discovered. Every time you think you made something idiot proof, along comes a better idiot. And wouldnt that be smart, announce publicly exactly how they will deal with the RMT problem. Lets give them a heads up on how to counter it! As far as the "fixes" proposed by players, rarely are the unintended consequences of those "fixes" ever considered.
SE is doing something about them, thousands of accounts are banned or suspended for investigation every few weeks. I get people are frustrated though.
You misunderstand me. I don't care about gil sellers, I just meant they don't have to advertise in game. "But Prince, they're only doing that because people are buying gil!" Welll, 1: Those links seem shaddy AF. 2: Ban more sellers and buyers.
People will never stop buying because they're lazy/want big toys. And I know DEVs are trying, and I'm getting sick of these threads too, but it's just an annoyance that won't go away any time soon.
As far as the blacklists goes, I just do it to stop their spamming and occasionally go down the list to delete names because I do get tells/shouts from RMT folks more than once if I don't.
I know SE is doing what they can, but more can always be done.
People won't stop buying/selling so we're just screwed in the mean time.
I knew my post would be removed.
How's this censored version work for you?

Normally I'd agree with not making duplicate threads about the same topic as NA players are wont to do, however this one particular subject is a moral exception in my eyes.
As for handling the RMT situation, players who are caught buying gil should have a lengthier ban for the first offense, a 90 day ban for the second, and a permanent ban for the last. There needs to be a team of at least three staff per server actively banning, immediately, RMT accounts as right-click reported after verifying. No more of these batch waves. It's ludicrous and ineffective.
Let me take a moment to appeal to your experience. Spend an hour on one of the younger servers during primetime. Watch the opening cutscenes, do the first couple quests, and laze about Ul'Dah for a bit. Check the MB prices if you're curious. In that time frame, draw your own conclusions.Originally Posted by Drako

If you ask me, Drako, I'd say this level of RMT spam is literally the worst I have ever seen in my 10 years of playing MMOs. Nothing else I ever played ever held a torch to it.
I feel very fortunate to be on Masamune. Though the RMT spam doesn't exist here (Exceedingly rare,) I still feel for those affected. Something needs to be done about this.

I'd support this without a question. Right now, it's a pain having to fill out the form every time I receive a /tell from the little RMT parasites.
Consequently, I only report maybe one in ten RMTs I run across, and I don't think I'm the only one. It's just too much of a hassle to fill out the form every time. I'd be spending more time filling out forms than actually playing the game. With a right-click option, we could just click a few buttons, then get on with our business.
As for the 72hr ban for new characters sending tells... Idk. It seems to me that would block legitimate correspondence between new players and the friends who invited them.
This is so absurd. Yes, players are at fault, but so is SE for not DOING anything about it. And no, their hollow bans don't count since it has little effect. QoL suggestions have been hammered over and over again yet SE has ignored it for god knows how long now. The playerbase has cried out for help and SE has plugged sand in their ears and put a blindfold over their eyes.
I would agree that a megathread is more effective to get the message across(noticed a previous poster already linked it, it's also in my sig.) But SE seems to be ignoring that as well. Sure hope they fix this come HW or new players are going to leave in droves and the web will be abuzz with HW reviews talking about how bad the RMT spam is.
