It's impossible to permanently get rid of RMT. No MMO has been successful on that mark, though plenty make it easier to report them. Sadly, so long as there is a market for RMT, there will always be RMT spam. It's a sad truth.
But I do wish that they implemented WoW's method their players can use to deal with RMT spam. Right click name> Report Spam> Mute's RMT spammer for as long as that character is logged on (essentially a temporary blacklist that doesn't fill up the blacklist). Still, FF XIV's RMT report method, though slow, is more than what Aion has.

Wish they would do something about these posts too while they're at it. Sheesh.
Balmung, The last strong hold. Where RMT only very rarely slip by server lockouts.

This is a very good point. This could explain why I don't see very much RMT. It's not easy to create new characters on my server. So I'll admit the situation could easily be far worse then I assumed. I feel silly for not making that connection, when I switched servers, and had a lot less issues with RMT messages. Nevertheless acting like SE is doing nothing, or seeing posts they give saying they are doing something, and claim that isn't anything to shake a stick at, or claiming its doing NOTHING is just foolish. I hate feeling like I'm white knighting this thing, but I understand both perspectives. It's not a simple fix, if it was there would be no RMT on any mmo. It wouldn't be a thing. I think people need to stop acting like nothing is being done, or not enough is being done. RMT is a global issue, they been at this forever and have extreme programming knowledge. For many its there lively hood, so they make it their top priority to make this RMT activity possible in any games that they deem ripe for gil/gold selling. Blame them for being so effective, and knowledgeable of programming, for making it so hard for SE to stop the activity at the level you deemed worthy of being called, "doing something".

Ever since I moved to Excalibur, I might get 2 a day...so nice!

For every "Solution" that is found, More ways around them are discovered. Every time you think you made something idiot proof, along comes a better idiot. And wouldnt that be smart, announce publicly exactly how they will deal with the RMT problem. Lets give them a heads up on how to counter it! As far as the "fixes" proposed by players, rarely are the unintended consequences of those "fixes" ever considered.
SE is doing something about them, thousands of accounts are banned or suspended for investigation every few weeks. I get people are frustrated though.

I knew my post would be removed.
How's this censored version work for you?

Normally I'd agree with not making duplicate threads about the same topic as NA players are wont to do, however this one particular subject is a moral exception in my eyes.
As for handling the RMT situation, players who are caught buying gil should have a lengthier ban for the first offense, a 90 day ban for the second, and a permanent ban for the last. There needs to be a team of at least three staff per server actively banning, immediately, RMT accounts as right-click reported after verifying. No more of these batch waves. It's ludicrous and ineffective.
Let me take a moment to appeal to your experience. Spend an hour on one of the younger servers during primetime. Watch the opening cutscenes, do the first couple quests, and laze about Ul'Dah for a bit. Check the MB prices if you're curious. In that time frame, draw your own conclusions.Originally Posted by Drako

If you ask me, Drako, I'd say this level of RMT spam is literally the worst I have ever seen in my 10 years of playing MMOs. Nothing else I ever played ever held a torch to it.
I feel very fortunate to be on Masamune. Though the RMT spam doesn't exist here (Exceedingly rare,) I still feel for those affected. Something needs to be done about this.

I'd support this without a question. Right now, it's a pain having to fill out the form every time I receive a /tell from the little RMT parasites.
Consequently, I only report maybe one in ten RMTs I run across, and I don't think I'm the only one. It's just too much of a hassle to fill out the form every time. I'd be spending more time filling out forms than actually playing the game. With a right-click option, we could just click a few buttons, then get on with our business.
As for the 72hr ban for new characters sending tells... Idk. It seems to me that would block legitimate correspondence between new players and the friends who invited them.

Im getting sick of RMT to SE GIVE US OPTIONS :
GIVE us the ability to :
*automaticly deny friends invite*
*accept dont accept tells from none friends , FC , LS*
*party invites from friends or FC or LS only*
gives us more options its getting beyond annoying !!
edit : Meanwhile ill go on busy status :P
GIVE US MORE OPTIONS NOW!
