The SCH sacrifice fairy ability was so broken they said they're gonna nerf it. It was increasing your healing done by 50% lel.

Thanks for the links! Though they have differing notes on the benefic proc. >< MAN I cannot wait to get my hands on this class and see how it works myself.

It really sounds like scholar is having it's raw healing issue fully fixed while maintaining it's crazy level of mitigation and utility
while WHM is getting more instant burst healing with it's mini-benediction and holy nova thing, even more regeneration than it already provides, and more damage options
While from what we have about astrologian is
a single target heal, an instant single target heal that works as a spell proc, an aoe heal, and an emergency heal
and then a stance that is +10% healing and adds a regen effect to each of them likely not stacking
or a stance that is +10% speed and adds shield to each of them
the reviewers said the actual healing output is lesser than whm and sch but the regen or shield effects are constantly applied, said effects are also weaker than the pure counterparts
also can't change your stance in-combat apparently
they also have a holy beacon buff that let's one person always get half their healing for a short while which is actually quite cool
and then the cards. Which sound like strong buffs but they are single target and 30s cooldown for 15s effect
and apparently there is a bad one and a couple less useful ones and the skill to make them into a big buff likely has a long cooldown and re-randomizes so you can't be like "got the card i want time for royal road!"
compare that to a scholar giving haste to the party on a 30s up 30s down timing, with a separate skill that can give the aoe 10% damage reduction, and the virus, and the healing potency and magic resistance buffs. All of it completely reliable with no randomness
for damage WHM have the beast that is holy, and are getting what are apparently are a targeted aoe DoT and direct damage, and an instant aoe that also heals allies
and scholars of course have a full suite of DoTs that can also be spread so healing while damaging is simple
and the reviewers said astrologian is all AoE but relatively weak compared to the other 2 healers
I mean a lot of what astrologian can do must be as of yet untold because it really sounds like they have the short end of the stick in just about every way

RIP what?
My Selene has had haste for ages.

While I want to keep a hopeful, open mind about AST (because I'm really excited for it), I keep reading about how their DPS is lower than WHM/SCH, that their healing mode is weaker than WHM and their shield mode is weaker than SCH. Makes me wonder if AST is going to be unwanted right from the get go. I mean if they're weaker in all three aspects (DPS, healing and shielding) their card buffs sure probably won't make up for those shortcomings.
I hope I'm wrong.
Player : フェアリーのミラプリも作ってるんですか?
(Any plan on Fairies glamour?)
Yoshi'p Sampo: フェアリーはエギではないので、予定がないです。残念ながら。
(Since Fairies aren't Egi so, No.)

This is why I think we may actually use cure as a cross class action. The regen or shield component getting recast if you are in a spam-heal situation won't be doing much, since I'm sure they won't stack. Sch alternates adlo and physick for a spamheal now for this very reason. We also don't know mp costs or regen mechanics- cure could be cheaper than benefic, helping your mana last in long encounters.
I do wonder though if the stance-effect buff is the same on EVERY heal? example whm regen and the regen from medica2 are different and thus stack from the same whm. Will one of AST aoe heals have a different buff form the stance? heck, maybe even benefic and benefic2 could have a different buff. Just speculation of course.
I'm not that hyped to play astrologian. As a scholar, I'm really looking foward to play with an astrologian partner!
I really think about the Astrologian buffs like weakened versions of buffs that already exists in game. The real power of astrologian is to fit with any healer partner and to keep the party buffed constantly.
Thats what I'm talking with my friends since the haste-like action was revealed.
This would be interesting.
But I think they'll just have their own "cure"/"physick"

Yeah, it's entirely possible that stance bonuses might be locked to the Benefic line of spells, much like White Mages won't be getting Freecure procs if they use Physick.

I agree about the Selene/haste thing. Everyone was like 'we don't have haste!" I was like.....Selene does WHAT now? You don't call that haste? Hehe.
I would hope they do have a baseline 400 potency heal with no effect as well, but we have not heard anything about it so only time will tell, cross class slots are few after all. As for cohealing with ast/sch I can't help but wonder if their shields will stack or not. Either way ast has hot stance and sch is getting a lot of new raw healing tools too.
Honestly though I am hype for all 3 healers! I played all 5 healers in WoW and I plan to do the same here in FF. I enjoy both whm and sch now, and I like having the flexibility to bring whatever the group needs in 8man, or just whichever one I feel like for a 4man.
Speaking of WoW comparisons... Sounds like sch gets grimoire of sacrifice and the change adlo to straight heal reminds me a bit of some druid/monk stuff like detonate chi and genesis where you can force your effects into burst healing, whm is getting holy nova and healing rain, ast gets beacon of light....
There is ONE niche spell I loved in WoW sometimes that I would have loved to see on ast when I first heard about it. The 'ticking shield' effect- like a hot absorb. I first encountered this when they rehauled shaman totems in the end of Cata. Stone bulwark totem- this thing saved my hide SO many times. Also paladins got sacred shield, so the same thing only you could cast it on someone else. Seemed fitting for the time-based ast.
