One thing i dont understand about AST is no one has said which attack spells has. We know stone III, holy and aero for whm for example, but why no media said anything about the ast attacking spells and their effects? They played the HW beta at full 60 so i cannot understand this.
All the classes knows his attacking spells (pld, war, dark, mch, whm, etc) but wth happens with AST?

technically the media said "it's less damaging than whm and sch but all aoe"
might be another thing to look forward too though, for all we know a large part of astrologian is their damaging spells have really strong debuffs associated with them

I know at least some people would be pretty pleased to be dropping ailments on the monsters instead of buffs on allies. Kind of give it a hexer feel

Well that in depth article points out they can "use some non-elemental magic like Ruin, from Arcanist" aka I wouldn't hold my breath on being very impressed - I think in exchange for being able to fill either healer role and have strong buffs it's not going to have much in the way of damage.

The thing is that the media got to play around with this class in a controlled test environment for all of a hot minute in what is likely still a preliminary build. I would take any and all of their opinions with a grain of salt.

That and we have no real idea of their skill level. For all we know, the media might be scrubs who think that tapping Cleric Stance will immediately cause trash mobs to spam Teraflare, meaning they couldn't get a good impression on the Astrologian's personal damage dealing capabilities.

I know for example that one of the hands-on I posted in the Astrologian Speculation thread had the guy maining a Monk, and not any of the healers. Thus comments like "Lower throughput than the other healers." can be sheer ignorance on their part if they aren't well-versed in what White Mages and Scholars can accomplish.
