Spoke to Yoshida about this to get an answer for you all. You can only belong to one Grand Company and once you join one officially you will be unable to switch allegiances. With that said, we'd like you to check out each of the Companies beforehand and decide which you want to pledge your allegiance to.

Unfortunately I'm still worried about 1 big thing.
GC's seem like they are a way the devs are bringing in new gear.
I really hope if they do have any more gear at all in the GC's, Every one has a versions or they are related to the city guilds, Very much unlike in 1.18..

It's going to be really off putting seeing people having the main class's gear in a GC they don't want to join. (especially if its actually new better looking gear).
(actually waht about jobs? wait for 1.20? or hope we get lucky?)

What about if a LS want to join a GC as a group?

Well if it dose work out like that it'll be the 1st time i'll be call Yoshida and the dev's unpleasant names..
I'm really now hoping they haven't be stupid enough to link CG's and classes in the way I've just sulked about above.

Gear past recruit is most likely to be for more than just the classes they have offered now. We just have recruit-level offerings anyways. And I think if they do it like they've done all their quests, you can help someone out even if you're in a different company. Some quests have the *Up to X party members may accompany you* on them, and you can bring people to those even if they don't have the quest.
