With that said, we'd like you to check out each of the Companies beforehand and decide which you want to pledge your allegiance to.

That kind of lame, i want to join gridania, but im force to join limsa because it has my weapon class.

Can't they all give same equipments? I really do not want to join Limsa just for the sake of my Weapon collection.

P/S I do not mind joining only "one" company, but i would not like to be force to choose a certain company due to their items.

Seirra, I believe they had said in an interview that future Company gear would be tradeable/sellable, don't quote me on that though. Also don't forget that there will surely be other sources of high-level weapons even if the trading/selling thing is incorrect.

Bayohne, is there any info if we will be able to help our buddies in different companies with their company-specific quests? It would be nice if we could all choose where we wanted to go instead of having to settle on the same one. So far it doesn't seem like we need to be of a specific allegiance but I just want to be sure.

I'm in the exact same boat, and I completely agree. Each company should offer weapons/armor for all classes. Even if the stats aren't identical, they should be comparable. I also opens the door for more diverse appearances for gear. If the stats for complete sets of gear (weapons and armor) at the 3 companies all added up to the same totals (even if they were distributed differently across the different pieces), then in end-game scenarios we'd have 3 different types of appearances rather than everyone running around in the same gear. This is how I would like to see Grand Companies work -- a chance to offer more variety.

This sucks, my character is Ul'dahn and it's main melee class is pugilist, and it's main mage class is thaum, i'm in the perfect place. So imagine my surprise when my pugilist items are in gridania and my thaumaturge items are in limsa.
Seriously, that's messed up.
How about this, don't make class gear specific to one company, share the gear love. Why would any one company be gear exclusive to any classes anyway.

Well, I'm happy at this news. I like that there are decisions we have to make that aren't reversible. If we can only get gear for certain classes at certain companies then so be it.
