Well let's state the obvious:
1) Japanese players like hard content, American players would rather be carried through hard content. We know this is true because it's true in every MMORPG, and that's why we get baby-difficulty nerfs to various games.
2) American players tend to give up after a single wipe, Japanese players? I don't know.
3) American players are motivated by profit and would rather sell a carry than actually help anyone.
4) Not everyone cares about Coil.
More people would care about Coil if they knew there was a storyline to it, AND didn't have to wait 2 hours just to get into it.
There are similar problems just getting into Hard and Extreme Trials. Sometimes you wait 10 minutes, sometimes you want an hour and a half.
BTW I'm on Excalibur, the NA one with the highest clears. That can probably be chalked up to Reddit, 4chan and SomethingAwful all being on it.
