You can already outright BUY gear up to 110, which will only get cheaper as the gear becomes easier to craft in Heavensward. How much easier do people want things to be before they're satisfied? Really...

That's not even to mention the new recipes that will be added for 50-60, and that the level cap increase is not exclusive to people with the expansion.

I really enjoy this game but this community is one of the worst I've ever seen in an MMO. It's all rush, rush, rush. No one wants to help or explain anything and everyone wants to just ignore mechanics and rush. Honestly, I blame this on the devs for making the game this easy (I'm talking about dungeons and CT, not Final Coil). It does seem like SE is taking the approach from WoW with different difficulties with the xpac so hopefully, one day the content can be separated between all these players (example, WoW has LFR, normal, heroic, then mythic) and this won't happen as much. We'll see I suppose but I don't look forward to the end game with Heavensword with this community.

Gear and ilvl isn't really the issue here, I think, but as others have said, it is the attitude of many 'endgame' players who expect speed runs using DF, which is just foolish. My WHM is only i121, but whenever I pug an experts, almost every single tank wants to speed run, even with far from optimal AoE dps and even sometimes with just a DRG and MNK/NIN as dps. And by speed run, I mean pull everything they can up until they get gated out by the dungeon design. I can usually keep the tanks alive but end up spamming cure 2 and not being able to dps the trash. This speed run attitude is so pervasive (from all roles, actually), that I think it is the main thing that will hurt new players.

I know people will say,"Gear up - it is easy to do and then you won't have this problem", but that isn't really true. My NIN is i120, too, and I think that's a decent lvl to attempt the entire pull runs people like to do in current experts (giving a +10 ilvl buff since I've seen some in i130 do terrible on trash pulls...*sigh*)-- but going from i55 to i120 or so will take new players awhile, and I fear there will be a lot of people who will just be like the dps in the OP who leave :/ In all, I think it is a mentality issue of many of the player base who are used to face rolling content in i120+ gear and have not enough patience to let others play at the way their gear/ability currently would best be played.

I agree, Rushing instances is not a good thing at all, it's fine if you are with a full party you know and you go in together but even with 1 random from DF you should be more considerate and less selfish, We should call for more dungeon gates so people can stop this rushing nonesence, I've quite liked the designs of the last few new instances they introduced.

If the OP can take 3 days to gai 16 ilvls, getting from i55 to i120 will probably take 12 days. Possibly even faster because you do get stronger and runs becomes smoother and faster. Even if I still keep the number at 12 days or even 15 days. That's 2 weeks. Not even a one month's sub to 'catch up'. This is crazy fast for an mmo. If people still aren't satisfied with that, maybe they shouldn't be playing an mmo with ilvls, right?

I'm glad to see other player's saying the same thing. You know I've been DFing Garuda EX since I don't really like to join farm parties (I usually don't want to spends hours doing it) so I join and the new player/bonus text pops up. I start trying to explain and the tank pulls immediately. Then after 1-2 wipes people bring up the vote abandon, no explanation or anything. If there's enough new players it fails but really? One time we wiped once, we had 1 dps leave and I explained to everyone that there were new players. Luckily one of the tanks had a macro explaining the fight so he went through that, we pulled and cleared it. If people just EXPLAINED the fight it would be fine but they don't want to. I just don't get it =/ Something else I didn't mention is that a lot of players left this game months ago. I probably wouldn't have came back until next month, the only reason I came back before then was because of my husband. So hopefully the players who left won't be as horrible.

I don't understand this "gotta go fast" attitude for gearing up. It isn't like the game is going anywhere. Just carry on at your own pace.

Nonetheless, as a frequent tank in the DF, I think it's pretty silly that some tanks pull huge chunks of mobs regardless of party composition. All DPS can put out decent amounts of AoE damage, but in the DF, my expectations are significantly lower - so I pull around two to three sets to speed up the pace a little. Not a lot of people actually like one pull at a time the entire dungeon. It's fine if you do, but it's good to be a little adventurous sometimes just to mix it up and go for two packs to spice it up. Some players appreciate it when you do this.

Hmmm - full i120 requires full poetic i120 gear in all slots, I think. And the poetic cap is just now raised to 900 per week. So in 2 weeks, a new player will make a max of 1800 poetics. Also, a new 50 probably can't even get in to experts to do the daily, so getting that 900 per week will be more difficult. Given that full i120 needs 120 in all slots, I think saying i120 in 12 days is impossible -- but maybe there's some other combination of gear you're thinking of that would make someone i120 so quickly - keeping the poetic cap in mind? I'm just not sure how you got the 12 day idea. If it is possible, more power to them -- but i wasn't sure how you got to that number of days for i120.

One of the DF options in the expansion with be a force level sync down to the minimum gear requirements so you won't have a huge divide in gear levels between players and will be forced to go slower. I don't know if the rewards will be higher this way, but I really think they should be. If they can increase the reward by 50% to make up for the time it takes, I think this will even be a more enjoyable way to play, preserving the original difficulty.

Buying the year as a fresh player isn't the best of options. Keep in mind a new 50 usually has 1mil in gil at most. I can't speak for the future like you quoted - but they won't be able to buy much.

I'd love it if they added Antique armor as a reward for either class quests or MSQ. That would be an awesome boon for new players.
