Clear the main scenario up to 2.55 if you haven't, start stockpiling gear regardless if you intend to change mains or not. try to clear content you haven't cleared yet, EX primals, coil, crystal tower, etc. otherwise relax, this isn't something you should rush.

I suggest that you unlock all your ranks in your GC and save seals for the expansion. Right now only 3 tabs are available, but 2-3 tabs are not usable right now, so there is a good chance these tabs, and higher ranks in our GC, will be available once the expansion launches. So if you have lots of seals when the expansion launches, you will be able to unlock those ranks right away.

Technically speaking, getting the Raid one is 'easier'. While it requires a higher degree of skill to beat FCoB it only relies on a single RNG drop, whilst Zeta requires many multiples. There are fewer hours needed to be put in, and you don't need to spend a single gil on either materia or crafts (Perfect cloth selling for 200k being only one of the examples).

Personally, my advice is simple. Play the game and enjoy it. Unless you're in some mad rush to get to Ishgard, it feels foolish to disregard the game up til now just to experience it. It will come in time, and then you'll be able to play the new areas and have all the more appreciation for it. Far too many players rush content only to be disappointed when it's all finished and they're left with an endless gear-grind which renders yesteryears outfit obsolete.

Only if he is a Hrdcore player, if not Zeta is the easiest.

Sorry noob question here, What is Zeta?

Is that a ilvl135 weapon that we acquire from relic quest thingy, collecting stone from fate?

    1) Complete the 2.55 story (need to access 3.0 main story).
    2) Unlock all fights related to your daily roulettes (you'll be using them to level your main).
    3) Collect Grand Company Seals (you should be able to rank up within the GCs in Heavensward).
    4) Collect Retainer Ventures (Retainers will be able to go from 50 to 60, so you'll want to have stuff set aside to level them while you're ranking up in your GC).
    5) Collect hunt seals (even if it's just your weekly and the occasional A rank, they might come in handy).
    6) Level your Chocobo to Rank 10 (that little guy is probably going to be doing FATEs with you).
    7) Level any side classes (this includes crafting and gathering if you're into that).
    8) Gear any side classes (I have all my DoM/DoW classes sitting at i120 as I think that's a good start for 3.0).
    9) If you're interested in the new jobs, get Tome + Sol tickets + Sands so they can at least have an i110 weapon right at 50 (they're not getting i80-i135 relic weapons).
    10) Save your Gil!
    11) Stock up on some cheap NPC food. That 3% EXP bonus is going to be your BFF.
    12) If you have nothing to spend Sol on, buy and sell the crafting mats for a little bit of extra income.
    13) Make sure you're capping on Poe weekly. You only have 2,700 more Poetics (including this weeks) to obtain before Heavensward comes out.

I think that's all of what I'm doing right now (not including working on EX Ponies and SCoB Savage with my static). I like to be prepared for things and I feel like I'm nearly ready for this expansion now. :3

Nothing! just enjoy the game! All the reveals tells us they are going to ease players into HW (once you pass SoF). With that plenty of main/side quests that will reward gear to the point where you are constantly replacing slots before the durability even reaches 10%! Then at 60 there will probably be dungeons that will reward gear.

Srsly though, being given only 1 week lockout of Alexander suggests that i130 may be relevant(minimum requirement) for the 4 player mode. Then what you get from 4 player mode will work towards clearing 8 player mode.

carry on this list as it got good points:

    14) fully cap 2k Poe if you dont intend on getting more armor or wepons from Poe having 2k will get you 500 law tomes when they drop out ( should be when alexander hm is out might be wrong)

    15) if you intend on playing the new class say astroligan for example you could farm some gear for them as they start at lvl 30 you only need to find armor from 30-49 so you can switch gear without having to teleport back to a AH

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about getting the very best gear. The chances are it will only see you through a few levels towards 60 and then be replaced ( think probably by lvl 55). I'd maybe think more about gearing a gatherer so you can cash in on any demand for new crafting materials.
I've spent my time recently concentrating on gatherer and DoH classes. My main focus will be to have the best gatherer gear I can to cash in on any new crafting mats which become available. I'll also try to have 4-5 DoH capped ( 3 so far). Gathering would probably be the easiest for you to level before heavensward as they can be done quickly and can make decent gil from lvl 1.
