What should I be doing to prep for Heavensward?

I am having a hard time getting through the end game stuff. Not much direction and people are helpful but some times its like decrypting code.

I just wonder what a good level I should be at when the DLC comes out. I keep plugging away at buying the 120 stuff and working on my 110 weapon but I still haven't even gotten to the extreme primal fights and I haven't made it through Coil 5.

Do you guys think I'm gonna be to far behind, or do you think it doesn't matter seeing as the new area and lvl cap raise are coming hand in hand?

The first, and most important, thing you NEED to do is complete the storyline through 2.55. After that comes maybe primals and some coil. As long as you manage to continue to cap and buy poetics gear, you should be just fine for 3.0. Item level 130 is good to have for expansion, but not needed.

Again, the absolute most important thing to to complete the story.

    This are my advices.

    1. Finish MainScenario now since is required in order to move to Heavensward
    2. Whatever is your main Job, you should increase him up to Ilvl 130, also get your Weapon Zeta ( Yes well will become useless but still is a ilvl135 weapon, also we dont know exacly what will happen to Zeta, all we know is this "advantaje" )
    3. Try go get us much gil as you can, this is optional but I would do it since we dont know what things you need on the future. Maybe you would need objets/gears that would be expensive so I wouldnt take any risks

    Disagree here.

The upgraded i130 poetics weapon will be fine. Considering the questions being asked, I doubt he's been working on his zodiac weapon build for a long time. If he's sitting on a base or a zenith weapon than he quite simply doesn't have enough time to get a zeta weapon before Heavensward launches and anything short of that doesn't convey the unnamed advantage. I mathed it out a while back and determined that it would take 6-7 weeks of 10 hour days to reach Zeta starting from Zenith. And that's buying all your Novus materia and Zodiac crafted items.

That being said, the best things a relatively fresh 50 can do to prep for the expansion would be in no particular order:

1: Horde gil, ventures, and grand company seals (if your promotions are all done)
2: Finish the main scenario through 2.55. If you haven't had an hour and a half-long cutscene ending with credits, you haven't gotten there.
3: Get your relevant cross-class skills. Your thing up there says you're a thaumaturge. So the long ones are going to be Eye for an Eye and Quelling Strikes. It's best not to be missing buttons going into the expansion.
4: Gear up your main job. i130 is a good goal, but almost anything over about i115 is going to give you a pretty decent running start come HW.

It was just optional, he can make his Zeta if he wants to. Im aware of the weapon's future, but for now is the best weapon and the easiest ilvl135 to get, depending how far he is on tthe relic quest.

Technically speaking, getting the Raid one is 'easier'. While it requires a higher degree of skill to beat FCoB it only relies on a single RNG drop, whilst Zeta requires many multiples. There are fewer hours needed to be put in, and you don't need to spend a single gil on either materia or crafts (Perfect cloth selling for 200k being only one of the examples).

Personally, my advice is simple. Play the game and enjoy it. Unless you're in some mad rush to get to Ishgard, it feels foolish to disregard the game up til now just to experience it. It will come in time, and then you'll be able to play the new areas and have all the more appreciation for it. Far too many players rush content only to be disappointed when it's all finished and they're left with an endless gear-grind which renders yesteryears outfit obsolete.

Only if he is a Hrdcore player, if not Zeta is the easiest.

As a late comer (not really, technically) im just worrying about finishing the story first. That should be all you need to do to get a fresh start in Heavensward. Anything other than that isnt really necessary and up to what ever you want to do until release.

Im almost done with the story, and while ill gladly join a Coil, WoD, or EX team that I happen to get invited to before the expansion, im not really stressing it. Maybe ill just level a new class...

It depends on what you want to use your time in game for. If you are planning to entertain yourself into battle related content, you'll be behind. In that scenario, I'd personally were you, I'd:

1.) Completely and absolutely focus on finishing the Main Story as fast as possible.
2.) Continue to gear up through The World of Darkness and capping your Poetics each week.
3.) Chip away at the Extreme Primals. They are so easily to out gear (quite heavily at that) that you'll have minimal issues clearing them. You should clear them in no time.
Primals are to me, essentially training manuals for persons. You can use your learned experience through them to work your way through The Binding Coil of Bahamut if you so choose to.
4.) Work your way through The Binding Coil of Bahamut. Similar to Primals (Extreme), Coil is a great way -- and the best way currently -- to grow yourself as a competent person in battle related content.

Generally however, I'd seek to build a pretty penny preparing for heavensward.
