What wrong in wanting to play a game without being call bad name and getting insulty for no reason at all. When we paid to play the game. ..OF course you paid the game to pvp like you want but you didnt paid my share to decide if i want to pvp with you. Or you didnt pay me to PVP me. So i have a right to say NO without being insulted. You can insult IF i mess up you run in a dungeon that i can support that reason but to insult someone who say no to PVP is just not a good reason for it.

Sounds like the best solution is confine it to the Wolves Den. I'd have zero prob with it since I'd never have to be exposed to that type.
I like my PVP pretty much like I like my PVP people - out of sight and out of mind. Doubt such a solution would satisfy them though, in my MMO experience PVPers are very much "Look at me" epeen types who need an audience.

Yeah I definitely like this idea.
Ranked 1 v 1 could be called duel and might happen in coliseum, while you could chose your oponent by setting up 2 members party with him or going random trough duty finder.
Unranked 1 v 1 could be called a spar and might happen on some proving little wooden arena.. somewhere.

Or just give us a right click option + option to ignore duel requests. Whatever. Just gimmeh PVP!

Quest Name: "Welcome to the Colosseum"

Quest Level: 30

NPC: Colosseum Enthusiast

Quest Summary: The introduction of the 1 vs. 1 PvP that the Warriors of Light have always dreamed of. Different modes electable.

NPC Dialogue: "Step right up and bear witness to the greatest show in Ul'dah! This is the Colosseum's grand opening. You can pay to watch, or, if you feel lucky, you may sign up and test your skill against like-minded adventurers in one-against-one combat!"

Quest Objective(s): Sign up for 1 vs. 1 duels. Item levels will be synced, and PvP abilities apply. Duels take place in the Ul'dah Colosseum, and they may be viewed by the public.

Modes:

Single Match: Fight until one contestant is knocked out. 1 Round/3 Rounds/5 Rounds

Favoritism: HP Bars are replaced by Favoritism: a resource which starts at 0 and fills up to 1000 as the fight goes on. To gain Favoritism, you must win the favor of the crowd by performing skills/magic to attack your enemy, or bolster yourself. To gain additional Favoritism, you may collect power-ups that spawn around the Colosseum. Some power-ups may reduce your opponent's Favoritism score, while others may increase yours. Power-ups can have additional effects, such as boosted stats, healing, increased attack speed, or bizarre transformations.

To build on my earlier post a few pages back, 1 vs 1 duels in the Colosseum could be more for show than contest. There'd still be a winner or loser, but it wouldn't be about skill or equipment. Instead, it'd simply be about fun (Favoritism in place of HP Bars). Sort of like Triple Triad.

The problem you've presented seems to be the "victims" and not so much the perpetrators of "harassment" . Being overly sensitive is the cause of a lot of in game grief. We communicate in game via text and not everyone's a master of their first or even only language .

yes, i agree i presented the "victims" perspective. you gotta remember we are dealing with GMs / MODs here who either puts temporary bans or perma bans especially in the forums for the perpetrators ( who'se intention may not even to harrass ) just because the the victim feels he is being harrass.

don't get my opinion wrong, i like to have duel 1v1 in game even in open world, i think its great to have. its the players who are easily provoke and makes reports is the scary part, because if you get any form of ban for something you said/do when its not what you intend it to do seems just unfair.


if they implement it, as a solutions to something i mention early on this thread ( where can cause DF que drop outs ) is to have options for 30 second matches. DF que windows have 45 seconds to choose, 15 seconds is more than enough to change class and select yes on that pop up window.

5. No one. But you want open PVP. Something like that can and will be used to harass people. As I'm typing this while waiting on a queue, someone ran by and used Ring of Thorns. It's irritating. Why give them the option when you can just make use of an area that already exists? Why allow duels in the middle of nowhere for no reason when you can make use of an area that already exists?

You really got irritated by someone using ring of thorns? I really hope you don't participate in any sort of large scale hunt or FATE. What are you gonna do when ring of thorns get used 5 or 6 times? Throw your computer out the window? All your so called "reasons" for not having dueling outside of sanctuaries just boils down to personal preference. I've not seen any other people bringing up any sort of rationale that coincides with yours.

I've been gathering while an S Rank is being fought in the same area. Done Leves, FATEs and Treasure Maps nearby to an S Rank as well.

Guess I should be reported for harassment for not contributing to an S Rank but still lagging up the zone?

Thats funny, i remember a thread here in the forums. the OP said someone was filing a harassment against him for not contributing in Lupis FATE when the OP was just minding his own busness fishing.
