    This is the first I've heard it mentioned that ilvl 130 will be "too high" for the expansion content...

    Every new dungeon that comes out is tuned 30 item levels below the general population, making them a snooze-fest. I don't even do expert or high level roulettes, as poetics are easily capped elsewhere. Sounds like they are making the same stupid mistake with the expansion. If ilvl 130 is too high, then they've failed before it even launches. Almost everyone has at least 1 job (their main most likely) at ilvl 130.

    You could argue "what about new players, and players who are returning just for the expansion!? They won't be ilvl 130..." That's why most MMOs make the crappy gear you get right at the start of an expansion as good as the previous expansion's best raid gear. IE: white gear, easily obtainable at the start of Heavensward, should be ilvl130. That should be the ground floor.

    "Oh but I spent sooo much time on my BiS 130 set! I don't want it to be useless in the expansion!!!" Guess what? It's going to be. Whether it becomes useless right away (level 51) or a few levels in (54-55) matters very little. It WILL become useless. Welcome to MMOs.

    I'd like the leveling content to offer some small challenge, rather than face-roll my way to 60. Sounds like I'll be doing the latter. *sigh*

    The developer's mentioned at the NicoNico event that they weren't going to uncap poetics because ironworks was overpowered for the new content till about level 55. I'm kinda curious what level the law tome gear will be as that will be people's first real set of level 60 gear. I'm guessing pretty high.

    Or, well, at least i120-something. But yeah, this - think about it, one can easily have an average ilevel now that is more than double of the actual level cap that we can start working for in about six weeks. It's bloody insane, imo. And let's not forget - it's unnecessary, it's way too OP for basically everything except the top-tier raid (which so many players simply don't do).

    And in contrast, all the top-tier gear becomes obsolete way too fast, with the update cycle they keep sticking to (even though it's pretty much admittedly a strain on them too). Yet on the other hand, blatantly obvious arbitrary walls are kept in place to prevent us from progressing ahead. And guess what, I never see anything else than either tomestone or Coil gear on everyone on their main - dungeon/primal drops, while sometimes show up in glamours, are pretty much completely irrelevant.

    I don't even understand the need to introduce new tomestones time and time again, to be honest. They could as well just keep the current ones and adjust how much duties drop and how much things cost - that's the only purpose it serves, and it could easily be explained away by lore (inflation, depletion of sources, etc).
