Should Alexander hard drop highest item level gear?

I don't know why...I am just pointing out what I think SE's thought process is on the matter.

Everybody with a brain knows that ilvl isn't forever. Even if you have the best gear from raiding it's gonna get obsolete and outclassed by even a dungeon gear (see bcob gear and the current i100 dungeon drops). Even if raiders get this so called time advantage for raiding as opposed to people who just do easy dungeons to collect currencies, does it really make sense to already marginalize that advantage while the raid the gear comes from is still at its prime? People can already be at the same ilvl as the raider within just 1 3month patch?

I should clarify. I don't know why it isn't done the way you stated in the previous quote. I chuckled at the brain statement by the way. Also of course its going to be obsolete eventually. Also to be clear I am not disagreeing with your logic here. Last It doesn't really matter in the end what I think to be frank. What matters is this conversation is important enough to at least entertain the conversations to understand why people are at odds with the current system.

I still don't understand the point of gearing up if you don't have any interest in using the gear. Glamour? Only reason I can conjure. With that said, yes, Alexanders gear should greatly outweigh the other gear with upgrading pieces being 20ilvl jump :P

While I understand what you are saying there is something you should realize. Gaming companies realized a very long time ago that making raids and gear exclusive to only those who had the time or excelled at raiding was not a very good business model. Locking customers out of the very content they want them to see and experience is just bad business in terms of being a successful game these days. Much of the target market that play MMO's have been playing them since early 99.

Except SCoB and FCoB were already pass their prime when Tome gear was freely available for upgrades.

False. If you really think i110 non melded gear is better than anything i130, you need to research stat weights.

As it happens to be that is exactly the case for caster gloves for BLM.

Evenstar Gloves i110: 34,908 effective INT
Augmented Ironworks Gloves i130: 34,444 effective INT

The gloves are absolutely horrendous DPS wise.

You talked about the story only needing i90. Fabulous, do Shiva EX with i90...wait to even do the DF of it you need i95. Though even with i95 you are going to be hard pressed to down her unless you are in a premade.

Shiva EX is not story. HM is 80, Steps and Chrysalis is 90.
