In fact, she were able to escape later. Guess who helped her. That speech were just to save appearance. There are 56 pages of this thread and while I've read...a great deal of Anonymoose's thread (Revelations from Patch 2.55), I do not have the energy to read through 56 pages right now, just to see if anyone has posted the images I am about to post. That disclaimer aside, if you haven't seen them in a while, prepare to be salty with anger.
Emphasis on "My own arm".
This is after the instance battle with Roaille in the quest The Reason Roaille (Patch 2.4). I couldn't actually find the cutscene in the journal at the inn, but I found it on youtube.
this is my tribute to 2.5.5 story ending, i made a small video/slideshow with my char in it, enjoy

I just found a NPC in Ul'dah that saids
Mimishu at the Gate of the Sutana in Ul'dah...Speaking of the sultana, I am informed that she has taken ill. Let us pray for her swift recovery!
So I don't think she is dead.

Which, again, can also be fabricated, given who the source of the info is coming from.

This doesn't mean anything. Nobody in their right mind would tell the general public that the Sultana was dead - there would be panic and maybe riots. If you were trying to take over a city, you wouldn't say "HA! I killed your queen! I rule now! Suck it!" you'd be smart about it and go "Oh no...the queen is deathly ill...Oh no...the queen passed away...what a horrible situation. I will step up to lead in this grievous time."
It could be that she's still alive and fighting it, but I feel it's more likely that it's a fabrication to keep the public calm.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.

The monatarists should have taken lessons from this guy.

I actually got bored last night and ran around all the cities talking to people and seeing their reactions to the events of the story, really most of the real info comes from the guild leaders, FC sergeants, adventurer's guild heads, a hand full of Ishgardians, and the few Crystal Braves that you can talk to, but the gist seems to be, that the Sultana's death has in fact been kept a close guarded secret from the general public, and those who know are either the people working for the Syndicate, or those few trusted people close to you (the above mentioned people) who have been informed by The Admiral, Seedseer, and, uh, the new little Flame Marshal(?) guy. Also interesting to Note that all Crystal Brave presence has been removed from Gridania and Limsa, while they still maintain a presence in Ul'Dah and, of course, Rev Toll.
And, on a totally random, unrelated note, is anyone else expecting the epic facepalm moment of Raubahn getting set up with a Magitek Arm?
Content too hard? Too much rng? Too much effort for the item you want?

That speech is also why I want to put a Fire through his head when all's said and done. Since I thought of myself as little more than a glorified sellsword his words really spoke to me. So to say that I'm...disappointed would be an understatement to say the least.

I just had an image of Raubahn getting his new arm, picking up a metal cup, crushing it and saying 'grovy'. (Evil Dead Reference) :P
