Do you think sell groups are hurting end game community?

I've had a few instances of having known run-sellers joining me and some friends' farm groups and purposely trying to cause wipes on the group. Not sure if it was trolling, or to try to push people to want to pay for runs, but it is what it is. The thing that harms the community the most imo is intolerance and impatience.

Maybe they should actually put something in the game worth spending gil on.

I have tons of gil. I can make tons more easily. What am I supposed to spend gil on? Unlike other MMOs I've played like Everquest or World of Warcraft, 100% of drops at max level can't be sold. It is so boring. I could go on a giant rant on how dumb that is, but that isn't the topic of this thread.

My point is, if I want to pay 7 people to clear turn 13 or Shiva EX or Praetorium, who cares? There isn't anything else for me to spend money on.

If this game had a more robust economy, maybe it wouldn't be so big an issue.

You might want to learn how to word your statements better. There is a huge difference between calling people out ala "OMG U SUCK WHM DID MORE DPS THAN U!" and trying to be constructive with "Bill, I see your DPS is a little bit lower than what it should be. Can you explain to me the rotation you're using for this fight and maybe we can sort out what's wrong. Better yet, after this fight let's go to a striking dummy and I can gauge your performance there and help you correct it." The former is EXACTLY why parses are frowned upon.

I bought clears for Titan Ex and T5 in the pre-echo days. This was after COUNTLESS progression and clear parties ultimately got nowhere. I remember even the bought run for Titan Ex failed quite a few times. Fortunately, they offered the clears for cheap, and I was so. very. tired. of constantly wiping despite the group's best efforts. I've since gone back and helped people clear both of those many times over (I dont charge anything, I just like helping out). At the time, I just wanted to progress in the story without constantly sniffing the floor.

Also, it aggravates me when I start a progression/clear party in PF and get about a dozen tells offering to sell it to me. That's a real quick way to get on my blacklist.

This is kinda where I don't really agree with the "If people would have patience and tolerance" idea people say. I can't understand how to clear difficult content if you are constantly wiping due to other people not playing well despite their best efforts, despite over an hour of wiping the same mistakes repeated nonstop... what do you do at that point? Most of my friends quit the game cuz of boredom and now I'm back to party finder and the experience has been beyond miserable.

It's like the only way I am going to clear T13 now is by party findering, kicking bad players, replacing and praying that the good players don't ragequit during this process. What do you do in this situation? Please remember what I said about my friends quitting due to boredom, I had people and I do not anymore. Do I unsub and come back in 3.0? lol

This however I'm not sure I understand, could you explain this or reword it? I don't quite know what you're trying to say here.

What I am referring to is the RNG with drops. Don't get me wrong, I do not think it's a good idea for a person to go into a dungeon once and get everything, it's more a case of swapping drops for tokens or some other method of reducing the horrific RNG. If you want the PLD sword in T9 for example, you might do it 30 times before it drops, that's 30 lots of paying someone might do, and that means $$$ for RMT. If you dropped a token that 1 player can loot, and trade in for a specific item of their choice, that would result in just 1 paid run. Alternatively, the RNG factor can be limited to the classes in the group, so instead of getting NIN and MNK drops when there's not one in the group, it would reduce the chances of undesirable drops, and again, reducing the potential kills needed (though with this game design style, you could in theory still need 30 kills for a specific drop).

I don't like it personally, but I don't see how it's any worse than the people who get carried by their friends or by DF.

Case in point: DF Ifrit EX last night. The BLM spent probably 80% of the run dead on the floor but got the clear (and the pony) anyway. He didn't buy the run, but he essentially got a free carry. How is that different from someone who does buy a run?

Hmmm. Going to say no it's not harming endgame. I personally would never buy a clear nor would I ever sell one. But I believe that every person has a right to exchange and to pursue their own interests in that exchange.
