I've always rejected any idea of my group selling runs, and told them if they wanted to sell runs they would have to get another healer. I don't want to do an act that encourages RMT.

The biggest issue I see is that people can charge for runs, and then fail them outright, and welp... you paid them, and they can get away with saying that there was no promise that theyd clear whatever run you paid for, just that theyd help you run it. I've see people be the victim of such shams.
I really hope they ban it. Even in World of Warcraft there starting to see the damages of people selling runs. Many people were scammed out of gold from people offering raid runs or mount drops and then not deliver on it.
This isn't entirely true. I know a guy that paid for T7 (he'd already done it but wanted specific loot and didn't want to go through the effort of finding 7 others to help him and pass on all the loot), but someone in the sell team took the loot so he refused to pay. He was reported and a GM put him in GM jail and discussed it, then forced him to pay the kill group the rest of the money despite the fact one of them took loot they weren't meant to. Your so called "victims" either didn't report them for stealing his/her money and not supplying the service, or did a bad job or arguing their case with a GM if they did report it. I've also been in a kill sell group where it was decided to take payment after the kill, but the buyer went offline without paying (they never got reported). It's not like it's only sellers that don't deliver on their half of the deal sometimes. The biggest issue I see is that people can charge for runs, and then fail them outright, and welp... you paid them, and they can get away with saying that there was no promise that theyd clear whatever run you paid for, just that theyd help you run it. I played FFXI up until midway of WotG, ended up moving across country and never did get back into FFXI. Didn't have time as I got too busy. They had added level synch and the books, made CoP easier by removing the level caps in zones? I also had heard it kinda went downhill after the one expansion Adoulin? With WotG after they started server merges we started getting LS's that were selling loot drops. I remember prior to all that you would have some drama and end game LS's griefing in Sky, don't remember if they did in Sea, just to make one group lose claim on NM's and triggers. Which they just sold the triggers, SE changed that mainly because RMT got involved in the trigger farming too. Sky could definitely be drama.
Things happened and not the way Devs thought would have gone I think, so of course they make adjustments and players will cry foul. I think we were lucky that the server we were on had a mostly positive community. Some may think I am being a bit Elitist by saying I doubt most playing FFXIV-ARR wouldn't last long in FFXI especially pre WotG, I am not saying that to be ELITE, I am saying that through observation of a portion (the hardcore / elite if you must label them) conversations and how they act in certain parts of this game. Want to talk about grind and feeling like you actually earned your level and gears? That was FFXI pre WotG atleast.
Hitting my first 50 on this game, did I feel accomplishment? Nope. Getting my first relic (which we would have called AF (artifact) gear set, did I feel accomplishment? Nope. Luckily you don't have to level up skills in FFXI-ARR either, though that was usually and excuse to group up and socialize and perhaps farm drops lol. I do think the selling of runs/loot is not good for the game and is a factor in RMT. Wait til those RMT get smarter and start selling wins and loot because the market was created by other players wether they are buyers or sellers.

No, the problem are the people that are willing to pay for runs.
Paying for your victory for content that prepares you for greater challenges must be the most hollow victory ever.

I would rather have people sell runs instead of having the content nerfed to the ground just so more people can do it.
I'm just some guy...
Sell groups make the World go round..
According to some people, without the sell groups, RMT wouldn't be able to survive.
Think of the children, think of all the addicted gamers working in sweat shop conditions, what would they eat without your dollars? Keep selling runs, your money is feeding children across the World.
